Michigan search reminding me of our own search with Dillingham’s raise

They needed Deboer to lose last night and he wins (after he shot down Michigan speculation earlier in the week.) And now Michigan got Dillingham a raise at Arizona State. We had a lot of anxiety in our search, but I could only imagine Michigan fans’ anxiety heading into the transfer portal window soon.

It's becoming a line now around the block to kick Michigan in the nuts. DeBoer has done it three times in a week and now Kenny D just delivered another shot straight to the balls. It's time for the roster to begin portaling out now.

First, let’s see if Michigan can get to the point of earning other coaches well over $300 million.

If this sticks, and it looks like it is, I am curious to hear the Michigan talking heads spin this. For the last few days they were adamant that they would not need to go further than DeBoer and Dillingham on their list. Minter's show cause does not make him a viable candidate yet. I wonder who they will pick.

I still think our record of getting other head coaches a raise is probably safe, but they may make a run at it at this point. I do find it strange that both fan bases have had an obsession with Deboer. We were convinced he was a candidate here and similar to the Michigan fans, wanted him to lose big games to expedite his exit out of Alabama.

They are not picking anyone. At this point it's about who wants to pick THEM

Those few blades of grass during our Oregon game potentially caused a cataclysmic reaction in coaching changes and salaries . The AFCA should fund a chair in our Turf and Grass program .

Not a fan. Alabama lacks the toughness they had in years past.

Our own search got so many up and coming coaches raises that we may have priced Michigan out of a lot of talent. I wonder if they have to reach into the NFL coordinator level.

Not unlikely. This will come with its own share of problems.

Maybe we should start dropping internet rumors of coaches they are interviewing..

Ps. The psu rumors were mostly over a 2-3 week window.

Most important question I have that I would like answered is - where is Michigan Man Desmond Howard? Quiet as a Church mouse. (Admittedly, I don’t follow Game Day or go deep into social media to see if he has commented).

I just scanned his X account. No UM posts for the season of any note. Oddly for him, he doesn't mention UM in his header. He does wear a stupid hat in blue/yellow with Just Fine printed on it.

I think it just proves a point that become a little clear during our search. You simply dont have to leave your cushy job at a tier 2 school to got to a big time pressure grinder. They all pay well now, playoffs expanded. In the past, only 6 schools had the money or ability to win a championship, now 20 or 30 do, and thats only growing.

Ehhh...like countless people rumored to Penn State neither Dillingham nor DeBoer were logical. Especially Dillingham. It's just agents floating info. Like we never wanted Rhule or Cignetti or many others.

After last night's game, not so sure. Indiana better watch out. Picking The Tide next week.
Same. I dont know why people underestimate the Tide. They did have some high quality wins. We need to see if Cignetti can win a big game as the hunted.

The media has somehow convinced some fans that there is some sort of ranking of best jobs in college football. Those lists are nonsense.

In this era of college football, history, tradition, and prestige of football programs do not matter to the agents of college football coaches. Their job is to extort the most money possible out of universities. It’s classic self-interest money grubbing behavior in a capitalist system.

Michigan is no different than any other big football program when it comes to coaches. The coaches and their agents will take the job that has the most attractive financial benefits for them or their staffs. It’s about the dollars.

Well, I have to think we already took care of most of the high end coaches. So Michigan might need a bunch more candidates to approach our number. Unless they decide to approach some some we already did.

Their line play has really suffered in recent years. The playmakers are still there.

This is very true and it is why I think IU would rather have Bama than Oklahoma. This team that was best up front lost last night. People talk about the way Bama came back, but most of it was OU mistakes. Bama never ran the ball the entire game and Simpson was running for his life half the night. That cannot be sustained, you aren't winning with that.

Say what you want. IU won't make the mistakes. IF they can match up with Bama up front, and after the OSU game I think they can. I don't see any reason IU won't win that game.

With CFB being the mess it is today, how many NFL guys would be willing to sign up. I guess enough money might buy one.

They actually might need a Michigan alum who might be interested. No idea if any Coordinators fit that though.
