Shiffrin wins Downhill at St. Moritz. World cup win number 91.
The current group of women downhill racers, especially the Italians, is formidable. The fact that she can win against those women in an event that is anything but her best is remarkable. What a phenom!

I have always appreciated the passion you have shown for MS’s accomplishments, but the way you worded the subject line, for an instant there I thought you were telling us she had died. #subjectlinesmatter

The subject line just follows past ones keeping all posts in a single thread. See the previous seasons.

Not Shiffrin but recently very rare so worth noting.

Love this quote:

“This season I really want to move it forward,” he said. “I want to move it forward to Bormio, to Wengen, to Kitzbühel, to Chamonix, and just really have competitive runs all season long. Because if I get the downhill globe, you will never see me ever again. I am boots off in the finish, on a plane, fishing boat, Mexico.”

And she does it with class. She has been the classiest athlete I have ever observed in my lifetime.

Oh man, I hope she is OK. I have gone down on downhill runs immediately prior to a competition (though not at anywhere near competition speed), and they are scary. At least she was upright when going off the course after the crash, so hopefully no concussion was involved.
