Who would've predicted that?
Anyone that was paying attention heading into the season would have predicted it. They took much different paths to building their programs at the new schools, and Micah has them in good shape unless there is a lot of unexpected roster turnover.

The biggest short-term winners in our coaching carousel were Utah State. I haven’t read nearly enough about him, but Danny Sprinkle would be my National coach of the year. He started with nothing, and outright won a Mountain West that will have at least 6 teams dancing.

Don't understand your "different paths..."? Rhodes had no choice when he was hired. All of our recruits decommitted and went to ND as did some of our other players. One even went to tOSU (Gawd forbid!) Shrewsbury had a bunch of Freshman, but that was the hand he was dealt.

By different paths, I mean that we added a bunch of older guys, and they added a bunch of younger guys. ND was the youngest major conference team in the country, and the 7th youngest overall. They start 3 freshmen, and their rotation consists of 4 freshman, 3 sophs, a junior, and a senior with another year of eligibility. ND ended up being a little bit better than most expected this season, and have a very bright future.

It's best to look past the record alone, otherwise we'll sound like the fans on the VCU board laughing at us that they upgraded from Rhoades to Odom as they went 19-12 and got the head to head win.

PSU under performed early with losses to teams like Bucknell and VCU. Who would have thought they would do as well as they did in conference play? Could have been 2 games over .500 without those collapses vs Minnesota.

ND has a very young team that should be better next year.

PSU loses Wahab so they need a strong PF in the portal. They also have to hope Ace returns.

We really need a 5 in the portal badly.

We need help both at backup PG and a shooter, but haven’t seen Carter or Stewart play so not sure if they can contribute from the start next year. Houston Malette is in the portal, but his connections were with the old staff (and Sandy). I think Trey Pettigrew would be a good fit in Rhoades’ system, but something odd happened with him this year and don’t know if he’s a notch below the Big 10.

We’ve got no more ships available today (if Ace and Puff return), but assume there will be some turnover/processing to free up what’s needed.
