I have mentioned on here before he is a longtime friend of my entire family. I have know him well since he was a freshman in high school. Pens heading to a rebuild period and he's not the guy for that.

I want Mike to head back to Boston but I really think he heads to The Rangers.
Sully is a great coach and I’m sorry to see him go. The Pens mortgaged the future to go after cups back in 16, 17, 18, etc and it worked as they won back to back in 16 and 17. Unfortunately, now it’s time to pay the piper and rebuild. It was fun while it lasted.

this years draft is so so, next years has quite a few studs. Can they tank for McKenna?

These past few of seasons have been brutal.

The way they went out last year with an amazing stretch run and then hope being snuffed out the day before the last game, and then this year to go out on a dominating performance over 1st place Washington...

It's always more frustrating when you can see the potential right there, but they just can't deliver on it often enough for it to matter.

There's no doubt Sid was instrumental in keeping Sully around, so you gotta wonder what the atmosphere will be like with the older guys come September.

How do we feel about Geno, Tanger, and Karlsson?

I loved the run they had, but I would have probably shopped Geno and Tanger a few years ago. It feels like it is a little too late now.

It's so hard to argue about 16-consecutive seasons in the post-season, 4 finals appearances, and 3 Cups. Plus all the individual awards won by Sid and Geno.

That being said, my feeling is that Malkin, coming off a season that saw him score a whopping 15 goals, is a 2nd line center that contributes more like a 3rd line center, and is getting paid like a 1st line center.

I'm kind of hoping he retires. He has a young son, now, and his priorities have probably shifted away from hockey, which is absolutely fair. Plus age and injuries have clearly taken their toll on him. I just don't think he's got anything left to contribute, or for that matter, prove.

I'd like to see them ship Malkin, Letang, and Karlsson out the door, and really load up on draft picks. It'd be great if we can get one more run in the post-season before Sid checks out.

I think Malkin and Letang have no trade clauses. Maybe they would waive them late in the year to go to a contender.

Not to hijack the thread, but rats are on the ice in SoFla. 2 goals in 11 seconds late in 3rd, then a topper... 4-2 Panthers final.

They do. That's why I'm hoping Malkin sits at home for a few weeks this summer and decides, "You know what? I don't want to do this anymore."

We're walking this ridiculous tight rope between fuzzy feelings and competitive edge where we all really WANT the team to be competitive... but then we also WANT Malkin, Letang, and Crosby to ride off into the sunset together...?

And those two things are incompatible. We gotta pick one.

BTW-- apparently Sid is not happy that Sully was fired.

Wonder what Sully's non-negotiable were that FSG could not accommodate them.
