Serious question! If Miles had played at UK last year, would Cal have let him return for a sophomore season? The kid obviously loves college and decided to stay for that reason. I think Cal would have made him leave. Terrence Jones is the only one that comes to mind that stayed and that was due to a lockout. Cal always says if you're Top 20 pick you have to go. Miles will be in the lottery next year as would Bam and Diallo had they returned. Bam would have come back if he was encouraged to do so.

Cal doesn't let them do anything. They are not 5 year olds and he gives them his best advice but they are adults and choose what they want.He has adviced some to stay but they have left anyway.
Thank you! It is not like Cal forces anyone out but he gives him his honest opinion .

Yup. The Real T Jones is the only NBA caliber player to ever come back for Cal. It's because he forces them against their will to make millions of dollars. Also because our players all hate school and don't love school like UofL players or MSU players or UNC players who all love love love school.

WCS came back twice.

And Bridges would have went pro here IMO, but UK would have won #9 as well...but you would still bithc.

People assume he'll still be a lottery pick next year as well but the problem is if he comes back and doesn't improve on any of the areas he's lacking he will slowly start to slide down in the draft. Look at Melo Trimble.

100% chance MB would be a high first round choice and would be gone.
Miles is taking a hell if a risk.
And if the coach had the kid's best interest at heart he would seriously council against his returning. Thank God John Calipari is our coach. We're doing right by all our boys and winning big time. What more could a fan ask?

If he played at UK, he'd be off to the pros with a national championship ring on his finger.;)

He would've been a top 15 pick this year. He can be the top pick next year and make even more money.

Cal has killed college basketball by making it seem like it';s about just getting drafted. While Cal is trying to play NBA GM mode some players like Miles just loves a program, shows heart and passion.

Oh shut up fat cat fan. Cal has not killed anything. The man wins and wins big.

The serious answer to your question is yes. If Bridges could adequately articulate his reasons for wanting to come back and they weren't non-sensical he would do exactly what Izzo is doing. Strongly recommend that he leave and then when he decided to come back welcome him back with open arms and throw a party while watching vegas pick you as the pre-season national championship favorite.

0.0% chance he returns if he is at UK. Just wouldn't have happened.

UK had 3 guys early who are likely 2nd round picks and/or undrafted.

Miles Bridges will be one of the best players in the country next season, but if we're being honest, the kid is staying another year at a huge risk to his future. Odds are the kid will not get injured, but you never know. If Miles came to Kentucky, we all know he would have left after just one year, after winning the national championship. I can't really complain about the way Cal recruits. The dude brings in major talent year after year and Kentucky wins a bunch of games and most years Kentucky has a legit shot of making the final four and most of the time we're actually nationally title contenders. What more can you ask for? It is probably true playing for Kentucky and Cal you are expected to leave after your freshman year of college basketball, but you know what? It terms of bringing in the most talent year after year, it seems to be working. The day Cal decides to leave Kentucky is the day the fans that dream of keeping the players all four years will figure out that it wasn't so bad the way Cal recruited while coaching Kentucky basketball. Until that day, enjoy the ride.

1 title. Wouldn't call that winning "big time". Some aren't concerned about that though. They act like fans are jerks for wanting championships over seeing guys leave after a year.

Again who at uk has done better? I got rupp with 4 in a near prehistoric era who didn't win a title his last 14 years at uk as the game got more modern. Other than that Cal has more final fours than any other coach and has had uk in title contention 6 of 8 years. Pitino did 5 in 6 with much more experienced teams. No one else is close.

brian, take the time to read "SUCCESS IS THE ONLY OPTION," Cal's latest book. He's not talking about winning a National Championship, but bragging about how many "One and Done's" he's sent to the NBA. Very little is said about UK winning a National Championship, but how AD was the No. pick even though he didn't shoot very well in the NC game and how he had the No.1 and No. 2 pick in the draft that year.
Because a lot of fans are more interested in winning No.9, sure as hell don't make us love any other school, or care about Louisville or Puke or any other school. I really don't give a **** how many we send to the NBA after one year. I would like to see some more NC banners hung.
I personally don't care for excuses when we fail to win, and I've heard them all. Those who can DO, and those who can't, always have a reason why they didn't!

Lol. You know this is another one of those things that fans have absolutely no idea about yet spew it on here constantly. None of us are in the room with Cal and his players when they meet about the player's future. We have absolutely no idea how he advises them.

He would rightfully tell him he needs to go. Tom Izzo should have strongly urged a projected top 10 pick to go. Let's just hope the kid doesn't blow a knee or something.

Duke and U Conn have. They have done better in the last 8 years. Strictly about National Championships when your a Blue Blood. UNC has dominated over last 12 with Three. Cal has the exact same as Tubby and Ptino at UK. Nobody talks about runner ups and elite eights. That being said, I think Cal has 3 before he leaves.

If Cal flamed out early as often as Duke has minus the 2 championships or sucked as bad as UCONN the last 2 seasons it wouldn't be good enough & you'd run him out of town.

NO SCHOOL in college basketball the last 8 seasons has had as many deep runs as UK.

I know right. Look at all the recruiting & NBA draft titles he has. All this talent and one NCAA championship to show for it. Oh yea 4 final fours that represent four loses.
