I’ve played this game and watched this game my whole life of 38 yrs minus 6 yrs and below.
Your mindset before and during a game is such a huge part of the game that is overlooked. You can win or lose a game before even going out on the floor. Purdue comes to Rupp with all the confidence and pressure of being the number 1 team. Kentucky comes in as a team with something to prove and belief they can pull it off. We win!
Now tonight Georgetown comes in with the chip on their shoulder and belief they can shock the world coming out of Rupp with the W. Kentucky with the pressure down 3 major players and expectation of just going out there and winning. We lose!
Happens every year and the problem is where’s your mindset before the game. Are you focused on what you need to do or what you can do. Chandler and Noah needed to step up with leading this team, but they can’t. What they can do is play their game, make good decisions, take good shots, and be confident. Same thing goes for Oweh and Garrison trying to hard to be something they’re not. Oweh is not a jump shooter! Scouts will tell him to add this and that to his game and he will make it but truth is he’s an nba player with just doing what he can do. Defense and driving to the basket relentlessly. I actually think he’s just been dead focused on his shooting taking away his work on what he does best and now that’s regressing.
As for us fans we are what we are lol. Some of us get too carried away and some of us will just say a loss is a learning lesson. I am disappointed in the loss probably more than impressed with beating Purdue. But I had a feeling before the game even started that our players mindset wouldn’t be in the right place. You have to play every game as if it’s you last and do what can do to help your team win.
Sorry for long post. Love you BBN

OO was out of practice for several weeks. I wonder how much that played into what we saw from him last night. He and others were trying to do too much themselves rather than involving others. We were down 3 guys and relied heavily on a guy that hasn't practiced a lot with this team yet. He'll be fine though and so will the team.
