My wife made a "Minnesota hot dish" for tonight. it's in the 30s and 40s here in Tavares Fl. Ground beef, onions, cabbage, diced potatoes, yellow peppers, tomato sauce served over piping hot yellow rice. Hmmm good and yes my wife is from Minny and pretty hot for an 84 year old. Happy New Year.

Is that their version of the ā€˜garbage plate’ or something similar?

It’s simply their name for a casserole. Ingredients vary, but cheese seems to be a non negotiable. I enjoyed my years living there, and have a degree from the U of MN so they’re always my second favorite B10 team. I don’t miss the snow or the cold. Oof da!!

That sounds delicious! Glad you enjoyed.

At the same time, a ā€œMinnesota hot dishā€ also sounds like a euphemistic term for some kind of raunchy sex act — perhaps carried out in a snowbank. ;)
