The Gophers dare Deacon Hill to beat them, and he can't do it, throwing 3 INTs and losing a fumble as the Gophers end their 8-game losing streak to the Hawkeyes, so poor Floyd has to head up to the Twin Cities. But playing Joe Labas, the guy who had no TOs in guiding Iowa to a 21-0 win over Kentucky in the last bowl game, would "be silly," according to KF, the guy who said if he had to play Deuce Hogan, another QB he gave a scholarship to, the team might as well stay home.

KF sure has a great way of building up the confidence of the backup QBs he recruits. That's what 25 years in the business teaches you, I guess, along with the fact that you can be No. 24 in the country and No. 1 in the pathetic West with, statistically, the worst QB and worst offense in the entire damn country . . . as long as Phil Parker keeps showing up for work and Tory Taylor keeps punting. And since, under KF, punting is winning and Iowa has a better chance of scoring when the other team has the ball, perhaps the Hawkeyes should take a knee three times and punt. That would be the ultimate in risk aversion, which is the only thing KF cares about when it comes to "offense." Why risk handoffs or passes? Just punt the damn ball and let Parker's fellas do their thing. Just one fed-up fan's opinion, of course.

FINAL SCORE SATURDAY:
Minnesota - 13
Iowa - 10

Sorry, pal, but I was almost exactly right. Hill with 3 turnovers that cost Iowa the game, and an "offense" that managed minus 3 yards in the third quarter and about 150 for the entire damn game. And even after the egregious, ridiculous, indefensible review that stole Cooper DeJean's brilliant, game-winning TD, all Iowa needed was 15-20 yards to get into game-winning FG range. But the Hill was too steep. The awesome water polo star got sacked, threw yet another incompletion, and then an INT to hand the game, and Floyd, to Minnesota, just as I predicted, although I admit I did miss the score by 1 point. My bad.

Hill, who is completing an impossible 38% of his passes, is a joke as a Big Ten QB, which is why he was headed to Fordham before Iowa lured him away. And KF is clearly senile. The old man insists Hill is the best they have and refuses to even consider playing Joe Labas or anyone else. For the second year in a row, Iowa has no offense. For the fourth year in a row, Iowa has a laughingstock at QB. And for the 25th year in a row, Kirk Ferentz shows he has no idea what a QB is or how to run an effective offense. The facts have been presented before. The evidence is clear. You can ignore it if you want, but that won't change the reality: KF, BF and the entire offensive staff need to go. NOW.
