While he may have been the right person anyway, with the timing of signing day and the portal, they don't really have the luxury of sitting around interviewing and searching without essentially just going into an abyss of unknowns for a year. Staying in the staff keeps the incoming class together and probably staves off the risk of mass roster exodus.

Will that hire change the style of play? Hard to imagine a DC would willingly play hurry up/Air Raid but we'll see, I guess.

Weird how timing works, but then sometimes does not. Leech had contacted my nephews coach last Thursday afternoon because their Long Snapper just entered the portal. They were setting up a quick meeting with my nephew for this week. Looked like a done deal on Friday.

We are waiting, but it is going to be an awkward call in January to check in with the new coach. We have no idea if he was even aware of the situation.

True. A reminder that the AD who hired Leach at Miss St, John Cohen, was recently hired as AD at Auburn. Cohen was once UK's baseball coach and would be my choice to replace Barnhart when MB retires.
MB will never retire, but if he does Peevy is the play

There was a rumor that leach may retire in the off season due to health concerns so I’d wager they had a plan ready
Even if that is correct, you'd think they would think MS ST would at least wait a while out of respect for Leach. On second thought, I guess NSD is coming in a few days and it is important for recruits to know who the head coach will be.

Yea, it’s a must. I think they presented well when announcing

Arnett was on Freeze's short list for DC, may have been number 1. Don't know if he would have went. I would think it would be hard for Freeze to hire a young married coach with the baggage he has.
