If I was in charge and he got into trouble for anything else after the one year suspension he would be gone. People do deserve a second chance and he got his, go pro Joe OU does not need you.

As with injuries, off-the-field issues are now more than ever part of the landscape of sports.
This is the reality that exists and it is going to get worse and it will continue to diminish my enjoyment of sports, especially OU football.
Some of the disciplinary issues have to be laid at the coaches' feet.....not just at OU, but everywhere. I maintain my belief in a zero-tolerance policy and a curfew for incoming freshmen. It seems obvious that such measures would clean up a lot of this narcissistic, privileged attitude. If such measures were universally implemented and recruits were made aware of such policies before signing a letter of intent, this crap would be minimized a great deal.
If a player wants to beat up a woman, defy authority or take PED's or stampede cattle through the Vatican, let him do it in the NFL where he can get away with everything.

Maybe he was mad that he didn't have the money to pay for parking because he's not allowed to work... I'm just wondering, does being on scholarship also give you a parking pass?

Was the parking lot attendant a closet aggie? All I see is that he tore up the ticket and threw it on the ground... Were there words exchanged? Why was he given the ticket in the first place? All the stories are vague in regard to details....

Sometimes those rent a cops think they are more important than they are. When you are an OU football player, take the ticket, smile at the rent a cop and then pay the darn ticket.

I wish he would go to the NFL and Stoops would take a different high profile coaching job. My gosh you guys are an embarrassment to me. Judging a kid for tearing up a parking ticket. Felonious punk kid. I've done the same in Austin. You still have to pay it, I just tore the ticket up out of aggravation. Working projects at UT you cannot find a parking place. I had to get to work though. Paid the fine and got paid for my days work. I just tore up a piece of paper do you understand that? Football player tearing up a ticket I'm sure that's a rare occurrence. No wonder the posters have disappeared from here.

A full game suspension for getting upset over a parking ticket, tearing it up, and throwing it on the ground?? Give me a frikin break.....

I'm sure this occurrence will weigh heavily after the season when Mixon decides if he wants to declare or come back for another season. I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to deal with this kind of crap for another year....

I'm sorry. I'll try to do better...

Me, too. I'm embarrassed by reading about how embarrassed you are about an embarrassing fan base expressing their embarrassment for embarrassing behavior by one of their players resulting in embarrassing the program for defending him and giving him a 2nd chance after a previous embarrassing issue.

I'm embarrassed about being blown out in Norman, and...

854 YARDS AND 59 POINTS.

I don't get embarrassed about parking tickets getting torn up. I'm not embarrassed by Mixon at all. From all that I've read, I'm surprised he didn't slap that drunk ***** earlier. Why? Culture. The fact that he had to be spit on and slapped before reacting tells me that he showed a certain amount of restraint that is not very common. Sure, it would be nice had he walked away before it got to that point. It also would've been nice if the establishment worked to better control their patrons... Would this be an issue if it were a male who called him racial slurs, spit on him, and then slapped him?

Clearly this latest episode by Mixon is not evil or sinister or even worthy of a misdemeanor....but Coach Stoops evidently sees this as a bad reflection on one of his players and on the entire program, so he's making an example of one of his best players to send a message.
If Mixon chooses to "punish" Stoops and the team by leaving early next April, so be it. If that's his motivation, then he's got a very bad memory.

Embarrassed by posters here? No wonder posters are leaving the board?
I do not know what the parking attendant may have said or what Mixon may have said but bad behavior does not justify bad behavior. Maybe the parking attendant is a student that is not on a scholarship and is having to work to pay his way thru school. Maybe he never got the opportunity to go to school. Perhaps Mixon thinks just because he plays for OU that he can do whatever he wants? I don't know but I do know that tearing up a ticket is like saying F You. Take the ticket and go about your business. Feel it was unwarranted? Appeal it. Maybe Bob gave a full game suspension because there have been other minor issues by Mixon and he decided to nip it this time to send a message, enough is enough. Anyway I am tired of people defendeing bad behavior these days and it seems like its become the norm and people just accept it. Thats a shame.

So, espn's college football live with Molly McGrath hosting today... Goes off on Mixon for punching woman in the face... No mention of the particulars of the case, just open fire on Stoops and Mixon after a drunk ***** called him the 'N' word, spit in his face, and slapped him... The ticket was talked about for about 10 seconds... McGrath continued with the narrative that Mixon seems to feel entitled, etc...

Finebaum was not as bad, and Booger McFarland actually defending Bob and his role in molding the lives of young athletes... Maybe Molly will let me spit in her face... I did say in her face, not on it...

Even more of a reason to walk the line and not do anything to give them ammo. He has to know anything he does wrong they will be ready to pounce.

Or it could be brushed under the seat with a stolen gun...

https://www.seccountry.com/alabama/...etween-alabama-coach-nick-saban-paul-finebaum

Finebaum mentions the double standard for athletes today about Mixon, and referred to the exchange with Saban above... Saban was pretty clear. He doesn't care what the media and critics think. And I agree with him.

The case of the Alabama players arrested in West Monroe for possession of marijuana and a gun that had been reported stolen is interesting by the fact that only two of four people were arrested and all charges dropped...

It's time to see what Lincoln Riley is made of. I suspect Flowers will takeover and run the safety valve, routes. Plus we just might see, the spread junk routes for the first time.

The pass will setup the running game instead of the running game setting up the passing game.

I think Mixon was gone anyway but this won't help in him wanting to come back.

A full game for tearing up a ticket? Yawn. Call me when he misses the court date or fails to pay the fine.

In my view, Bob handles these issues better than about any coach out there. all Joe has to do is keep himself out of trouble and in short order he will wake up very wealthy. Bob and OU went out of their way to give Joe another chance at OU. At least Joe ought to play it very close to the vest and keep his nose clean.

But, no, he has to confront the person who issues him a parking citation. He tears it up and throws it to the ground right in front of the person who wrote the ticket. He goes out of his way to create a problem for himself. He obviously thinks that because he is Joe Mixon that he can get away with anything he wants. If I were the guy who gave him the ticket I would have filed a complaint with OU as well.

The reason we have these issues with today's youth is that most have no respect for authority. They were raised by parents that just let them get by with what ever they wanted to do. They were never taught to respect authority or anyone else for that matter. It is all about them and nothing else.

I thought that OU should have cut Joe loose after the incident at Pickleman's. Let him find some other school. Those of you who are critical of OU for disciplining these kids need to realize that allowing these kids to get by with anything will ultimately result in the situation Baylor finds itself in today. I know there are lots of Baylor folks who wish they had leadership such as exists at OU. Consider how OU handled the Shannon and Mixon deals compared to what has happened at Baylor.

After all that's been said, if OU can't beat Iowa State with Adams at running back, Mayfield at QB, Westbrook at WR/RS, Flowers at HB and Andrews at TE/WR, then Stoops' team has more issues than we knew about.
I believe that the defense can contain the Cyclone juggernaut (1-7 and with the nation's 135th ranked offense) adequately.

The problem isn't having to play ISU with Adams at halfback.
The problem starts when Adams twists an ankle and you are playing a walk-on true freshman.
Flowers would be there, also, but he likely won't be in game condition to run the ball 25-30 times.

If OU can't beat Iowa State tomorrow night, the cause shouldn't be because there's no scholarship players available at running back.

Pretty much anyone that has ever gotten a ticket for anything will say they did not deserve it. My neighbor was complaining a while back that he had gotten 2 speeding tickets in the past two weeks and was pissed of at the PO PO. I asked him if he was speeding and he said yes, I said well there you go!

There's a lot worse happening around the country than a young guy getting upset over a parking ticket. I know Joe has a bad incident hanging over him but it doesn't mean he's never get upset about something. People have bad says. Emotions are hard to control sometimes.

Doesn't matter who we're playing. The punishment doesn't fit the crime here. Should his incident as a freshman play into everything he does for as long as he's a Sooner?

The media most certainly will never give him a break on anything wrong that he does because of his past, thats how they are. I said this earlier that perhaps he has had some other minor infractions that only he and some Coaches and players know about be it late to a team meeting, late to classes goofing off and not practicing hard etc who knows, maybe Bob had enough and just gave him a game suspension over this to send a message. We will never know exactly.
