If you like gangster stories I’ve got to recommend this one. Tom Hardy plays a “fixer” for a crime family lead by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. Episodes drop weekly. So far 7 of 10 are available. Story is great so far and the acting is of course phenomenal, as you might imagine from the 3 lead actors.

Highly recommend having the closed captioning on if you choose to watch. The Irish and English accents are very heavy.

The mob war is coming. That much is obvious. Harry's wife makes me kind of feel like she is about to bounce.

I watched the first episode and have avoided this thread so as to not experience spoilers. My concern is that there is nothing actually redeeming about the show and that it simply intends to entertain by putting on display brokenness, depravity and violence. I get that can be entertaining to many, but the journey of a fixer in chaos, as things fall apart and he has to make decisions, is not really the journey I enjoy if no character is redeemed from the depravity.

I stopped watching Succession because it just seemed to expect me to be entertained by being disgusted by people.

For those who have watched, will I be disappointed if I am looking for something in the story that is not just more of the same?

That said, the acting was top shelf. And, the look and feel was well done.

Can’t wait for the season finale on Sunday.

Still no word on a renewal to go forward with season 2. But I have read that Tom Hardy and the producers want to go for it. I hope it’s gonna happen. I like this show a lot.

Well looks like it will be Harry v/s Kat in season 2. The swerve was good, I thought he was going to turn heel. Didn't see the alliance with Kevin coming. Still think Mauve is a X factor. Only gripe I have is I wish they would have let the climax play out a little longer. 10-15 minute all out action needed its own episode.
I mean Richie was a big powerful family and he and his whole crew was axed in 2 minutes without a fight.

Yes.

I was hooked on actors and the former Bond and Mirren are a hoot. Storyline and writing is very good.

Reacher as a bad guy? Downton Abbey for gangsters? (Rich people with British Isles accents?) The endless use of a particular word?

All that would jerk me out of the show and back to, "why am I sitting on the couch"?
