Think about this. Everyone here again is excited about the 3 and possibly 4 Freshman recruits. Will any of them be as talented at Flagg or rated similar to the other Duke freshman? I am not suggesting we shouldn't be thrilled with the new recruits. But, if anything has been taught over and over it is the experienced upper classmen college players that have made the difference the past decade. So, hope we land all Pope wants but the transfer portal and who is eligible to stay is the key for each year. In fact, our two prize Freshman have hardly been off the bench to date except in exhibition. Today's college game will be about the transfer portal until rules change.

I think Johnson is our only freshman who starts next year, even if Wilson comes here.

I understand what your saying but I'm more excited about these freshmen than any of the last at least 4 or 5 years because they will be playing for a coach that wants their success but also cares about the success of the program.

The GM drafting the nipple top 10 will most likely be looking for employment soon thereafter.
Totally agree.....

Dude probably is a better shooter than he showed. vs. UK...has a nice dribble game....but he isn't doing zilch on defensive end, he ain't 6'7, he is as likely to be another spot up shooter than he is Klay Thompson-ish.....this is just HS and Duke hype.

We can at most only retain 5 players at best, 3 incoming freshman puts us at 8, get Wilson it's 9, the rest will be veterans. Look how well found the right vets and put them in the right places. We'll almost be able to pick and choose the vets that will mix the best with next year's team(NIL and all). If we don't get Wilson then we'll get another veteran. I'm not worried about next year, we're only 3 games into this year

You think Garrison takes the 4 and we get a veteran 5 or does he take the 5 and we get a veteran 4? If Wilson comes
We'll get a veteran stretch 4 in the same mode of Andrew Carr or Nate Sestina.

Wilson isn't strong enough to start at the 4 in Pope's system.

I could also see Pope adding one more 5 man as well in the portal even if Garrison returns. Moreno's going to have to bulk up if he wants to compete for minutes in his first year here.

UK will have 15 scholarships next season, so adding a few more bodies isn't going to be frowned upon by this staff that prioritizes depth.

G - Portal - Lewis
G - Johnson - Chandler
F - Oweh - Portal
F - Portal - Wilson
C - Garrison - ?

Moreno could be the backup to Garrison, but I'm not penciling him in just yet. I've seen nothing from Noah yet to suggest that he'll be strong enough to back up Oweh next year. Perry is your 5th piece in the backcourt, just like this season.

I agree with all of this. I trust Pope's eye for the right fit so I believe it'll all fall into place

Yeah well, we had four NBA picks just about every year, and look what it got us.
A bunch of “what if” teams and Cal using it as a recruiting tool. Come to UK, get the best treatment and move on to the NBA. Rinse and repeat…

I agree with that. Those guys are as talented as any team in the country. That win looks better and better.

To each their own. CBP is gone, along with his I’m-the-pathway-to-the-NBA schtick. I’m among those who would not be heartbroken if there was never another NBA mock draft post (mentioning UK or non-UK players) on RR. But to each their own. Go Cats!
