You get what you see with him .. some beautiful songs. I've caught him twice at the Blue Door and that is probably a perfect place to see him .. Both times he was with 1 or 2 other singer songwriters and they rotate through doing songs. He has a pretty good sense of humor when talking and joking around with the others so you get a little more in a setting like that then when he opened for Isbell.
The wife and I will be at Hayes tonight as well (early show) but we'll be with
@Cowguy so I'd understand if you don't want to say hi.
I guess I've seen John live 3 times. He opened for Isbell at Cains last time and it was one of the best musical nights of my life I think
@Honduee still gets a little misty, when he recalls that night.
Seabolt is correct ... There is so much phenomenal stuff coming out of Oklahoma right now ... It's truly a epic period for talent.
If you're like me, and often like music that rips your heart out and stomps it into pulp, John Moreland is as good as it gets. I don't make this reference lightly, but to me he's like a male Lucinda Williams.
AT, I'd love to meet you tonight. Don't let
@mseabolt scare you. I'm a fairly lovable guy.
I'll be the guy with the mostly gray beard. He'll be the guy who used to have phenomenal hair. We'll both be with women who could do better. Hope to say hi.
