Thanks. Probably about 7'3" with the hair.

Reminds me. I went to UK basketball camp with Winston Bennett in '83. He was 6'8" but had a HUGE afro. No kidding, he was 7' with the fro. Not sure why I shared that.
Speaking of hair has anyone noticed Ian Jackson's hair from UNC? The back of it looks like he has been in a patch of cuckleberries.

I didn’t know if he had been to a Richard Pryor party and got too close to the fire. Glad he was only laying in cuckleberries.

Haters coming to tell you it’s only because he’s taller than everyone else in 3… 2… 1…
It's a legit observation.
Will he be challenged by anyone else in the state?
Good story that he stayed with his HS but basketball wise he would be better off at OTE with Jasper and Kinney.

... I was just about to ask how big the opponents were ... it really is a fair question, especially at the in-state HS level as opposed to a prep school playing nationally (e.g., Montverde) or OTE. That said, I'm a bit down on OTE. For every Dillingham, there's a Knox, Burks, Cyril, et al. (i.e., guys who aren't going to dominate at the college level like their OTE tapes suggest).

They're playing many of the best teams in the state and then traveling for bigger opponents as well. He'll get to go against the Boozer twins, a school out of Texas with a 5* kid committed to Duke, one of the best teams in Indiana, and then the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach which always has good high school competition. It's different than playing for Montverde or La Lumiere but I'm not too worried about it. Reed came in ready and he played a worse slate his high school career.

And I'm with you on OTE. Not a fan of some of the gimmicky stuff and I don't know how good the development actually is there (I remember Rob came here and had a quote about it being the first time he's really taken nutrition and weight lifting seriously. You would've thought the 24/7 basketball training academy would've had him ahead of the curve in that area)

His team barely won their opening game. Someone had to hit a 3 to send it to OT.

Everyone doesn’t need to go to OTE. Some want to stay and win a state championship in KY.

That's why I said it's a good story that he stayed but he's not going to face the competition level to be challenged personally.

Winston Bennett played so damn hard that he never really had a bad game.
I thought Davion Mintz was the same way.
It's early, but I think Lamont Butler is that way.

From what I have seen, he does need to get stronger, but the bigger issue for me is getting him quicker laterally and making a wider base(spread legs more and bending at the knees) when posting. He tends to play straight up and can get knocked around because of it, making him look weaker than he actually is.

He's going to need to hit the weight room hard and transform his body if he wants to bang around with SEC post players.
The good thing is that he has the body to do that. The opposite of a stick figure with narrow shoulders.

Moreno appears to have good skills and an understanding of the game. He will fill out as most 18 year olds do. He has a good frame and a lot of the footwork will be corrected from June to November next year. I expect good things.

Really think Malachi will be a good college player.

I HATE to be this guy…but I’m still not sure how much I like him or Garrison initiating the offense next year. We know Pope will put the ball in the center’s hands at the top of the key to clear the lane and initiate their actions.

Maybe Pope tinkers it to have the 4 man in that spot. Really think Caleb Wilson could thrive there.

Now that he has his college. He needs to focus on nothing but strength training and muscle. Lots of upside with this one...
