I saw Malone play in high school. My high school was playing in the Group A semifinals that afternoon at UVA that afternoon. There were maybe 2-3K people there. My dad said that after we ate supper, we'd go back and watch Malone play in the AAA semis that evening. University Hall was packed to the rafters to see the big guy. He didn't disappoint, as he was truly a man among boys. RIP.....

I got to meet him when I was in 4th grade. My family was in Houston and we were going to the Bucks/Rockets game. We were in the mall that by the arena the rockets played in at the time. My brother spotted him and I got super excited and wanted to get an autograph. My mom gave me a pen and some paper and told me I could ask but I could NOT bother him while he was shopping. He was in a store buying a suit and I just stood at the entrance and waited. After a few minutes he spotted me and motioned for me to come over. I could barely talk I was so excited. I just still think it's cool he did that.

Moses Malone was one of the all-time greats. When you think of the best big men ever, you think of Shaq, Hakeem, Russell, Kareem, Chamberlain etc. but you rarely hear Moses Malone, and I've always felt that a shame.

Moses averaged 20/12 for his career, was the NBA MVP 3x and a 13x All-Star. He lead the NBA in rebounding 6x and is on the all-time top 50 list of NBA players.

One of the greats.
