Perhaps the most important thing is seeing what it does for Matt's confidence. I'd love to see him become a bit more assertive on the offensive end. With the exception of the lob-slams where he feels pretty good, he is way too timid around the basket with the ball. He made a nice lay-up at the rim and then this incredible play in the last game, which may start to convince him that he can really do this! That's a really athletic play. I can't imagine seeing Ryan Young do that. I even have a hard time seeing Edey doing that even though he's a pretty good athlete for his size.
I am surprised that he hasn't developed any low post moves. James had great success with Pardon, maybe the coaching change hurts NU's ability to develop a big.Perhaps the most important thing is seeing what it does for Matt's confidence. Heck, I have a hard time seeing Nicholson do it, even though I am literally seeing Nicholson do it.That's a really athletic play. I can't imagine seeing Ryan Young do that. I even have a hard time seeing Edey doing that even though he's a pretty good athlete for his size.
I hope so. I don't think i've ever seen a guy who contributes a lot to a team when he has absolutely zero offensive game around the hoop other than when he dunks.Perhaps the most important thing is seeing what it does for Matt's confidence. Two words for the way our coaching staff was focusing its attention last year...It is a bummer that in his third year of college, he has negative post moves. I'd guess he's always just been so big among his peers that it wasn't needed, but man he'd be super dangerous on offense if he had just two moves he could switch back and forth with.
Fixed it for you as far as focus on development for MN goes. Two words for the way our coaching staff was focusing its attention last year...

You're talking about the offseason. After NU/Collins hired Chris Lowery.Fixed it for you as far as focus on development for MN goes.
We have basically two of those guys in MN and TV. But they've been serviceable so far.I hope so. I don't think i've ever seen a guy who contributes a lot to a team when he has absolutely zero offensive game around the hoop other than when he dunks.
Mark Eaton would be one. Played 200 minutes in 2 years at UCLA, then was drafted and developed by the Utah Jazz, where he started for 11 years... Regarding his struggles before the NBA, Eaton said "The coaches didn't know how to teach me to play big, and I didn't know how to play big."I hope so. Ya NU has such a bad track record with developing 5’s under Collins before LoweryYou're talking about the offseason. After NU/Collins hired Chris Lowery.
I'm talking about the wasted time before that.
You don't have to admit it, but Nicholson is a year behind schedule.
Last year MN was a foul machine and could not stay on the floor. He was not ready last year, he is this yearYou're talking about the offseason. After NU/Collins hired Chris Lowery.

I get that everything is the staff’s fault in your eyes, but I like to think the players actually have agency and it’s too bad he hasn’t developed any post moves. Two words for the way our coaching staff was focusing its attention last year...
