Most of these players are back next year

Another year won’t save Pope, but it’ll delay the inevitable. Boosters probably won’t be spending as much money so he’ll be looking for more bargain bin players.

Another year of Pope is either going to be a continuation of this year or a we’re redoing his first year again. At that point we might as well seek out another coach.

We need to pay them $22M to leave, then blow another $22M on actual players next go-round. Give $22M to Stokes and let him play 1 v. 5 for all I care. He'd still beat teams like Eastern Illinois or whatever so what's the difference?

The weirdo antics is why he can’t recruit. The kind of player we need at UK is turned off by this stuff.
It’s not nice to say, but he’s a Mormon. They’re an odd bunch. Might work if he’s just coaching like the Kansas City Chiefs coach, but for a guy trying to appeal to 17-22 year olds to, it’s a probably a bit of a turnoff to players and their parents.

I do wonder if this matters. Signing up for no caffeine nor sex to play for your brethren probably led itself to accepting the goofiness.

I still think the offense. I think that's why he stopped running it.

We may lose some players from this team at semester break- wouldn't surprise me a bit. After we get destroyed by Gonzaga, the rats may start leaving the sinking ship.

But the problem for several of these guys is they're all just role players and they're making MINT! Who wants to take over their contracts? Who wants them? Only Mark Pope, apparently. That may keep them here.

I don't see how they CAN leave -- they won't make anywhere near as much anywhere else, as you've said. Only way is if they don't make anything here anymore. I have no idea how NIL works, and I don't care to know, but whoever's funding these role players needs to dry up all the opportunities and force these guys to leave. Reboot with actual players.

I can't tell heads from tails what you're trying to say in the second half of your post.

I think the locker room is broken and that these player's don't even like eachother. It seems like alot of different personalities and objectives on the court.

I literally don't think anything they do in practice carries over to the game.

With that being said, I could see some leaving for less money to play on a different team.

Im saying players and recruits dont want to run zoom offense because its mostly backcuts instead of showcasing their abilities for the nba.

That's why we're not running it. Not running it is why we're not scoring.

He was hired because of being an offensive maestro. Now he completely changed that offense and we look terrible. We ran it early in the year but stopped around the UL game.

Whatever the reason, he needs to get it figured out or we are looking at a loooong December.

Thinking about most of these players coming back doesn’t make me feel better. Honestly, I can only see 4-5 that I would want back. Obviously, we have guys that play for themselves instead of a cohesive unit/team. IMO

If he changed his offense to appease the players and their desire to showcase for the NBA, then he needs to be told to put UK first or get the hell out. He's a nice guy, but UK comes first. I hate what could be about to happen for him. He's got a nice family.

If most of the kids are back and they all improve as much as Chandler did from last season to this we will have a heck of a squad
I agree.
Anybody that wouldn't want Jasper Johnson back as a sophomore knows no more basketball than the ones who thought he'd be a star this year.
I'd definitely want Jelavic back. I wouldn't mind MoD being back as his backup.
I've been impressed with Williams' defense and I think he could be a nice 3 and d player if he ever finds his missing shot; I'd want him back.
I wouldn't want Noah back as a key piece but I wouldn't want him to transfer since I think he could be a valuable reserve as a senior.

Johnson, Chandler, and Moreno could form the core of a very nice team next year and I think Jelavic could be a nice starter next year. They just need to add a stud point guard and another stud in the frontcourt.

Thats what the team really needs. One guy that can get his own shot. It has all the makings of an excellent team past that

Most of these ‘players’ have the loyalty of a Tijuana hooker and would transfer to Grand Valley State after the season for an extra 20 bucks of NIL. Hopefully Chandler and Johnson stick around but the rest can kick rocks if this kind of stuff continues.

Zero guarantees any of these players come back to play for Kentucky. In fact I’d bet no one in OP’s starting lineup comes back. Especially to this toxic fan base. Chandler most likely goes back to BYU.
Bye 👋

We have a decent core returning but we need a stud PG and a versatile 3 level scorer to pair with them. Add a proven knock down shooter and a big from cell block C and we got a chance.

Johnson
Chandler
Hawthorne

Noah

Play the best 8-9 all game every game unless warranted.

So nobody currently playing gets drafted. Oweh and JQ leave. Doesn’t leave too many spots to fill, unless you cut the NIL for everyone you don’t want. What stud would come in then?
