saw a post on the football twitter that this is Day 1.

have to imagine that its day 1 or move in day for basketball as well. excited to see the progress and the new players in the social media posts. always an exciting time.

this is definitely a new wave of NU basketball with so many new faces and so many "mainstays gone"

Hoping for b-ball to surprise this year. Maybe Cormac Ryan comes aboard to boot

Let’s identify the people in the photo, left-right:
Collins
Greer
?
Nance
?
Lauten
Kopp
Malnati
Buie
Gaines
Beran
Jones
(Partially obscured: Young?)
(Almost totally obscured — Turner?)
Spencer (?)

If I didn’t know better, I’d swear that was Jordan Ash between Nance and Lauten.
That does look like Ash...I heard that one of the managers from last year may possibly be a walk on this year, and also heard about a possible preferred walk on (Roy Dixon III?)

This guy may the most pure PG on the team!

It's a long, slow off-season when we are straining for excitement over the unfounded upsides of a lacrosse player and a new walk-on.

I'm praying for a new recruiting commitment to get some legitimate excitement going.

We are in the doldrums.

I think you missed the sarcasm/humor in C's post.

And I don't sense a groundswell of enthusiasm for the '19-20 Cats. Even Jersey Mike sees this as a rebuilding season. And he's generally the most optimistic Cat voice around.

I was hugely enthusiastic of the '29 Cats. Though, I think we would have picked up a couple wins if Georgia peach baskets were used instead of the South Haven peach baskets.

First spoken words of the 3 FY's.....

How impressive are these young men? It blows my mind every year. So smart, so well spoken.

Forget the basketball, in twenty years Boo Buie and Anthony Jones are going to be running companies.

I was excited when the season started in '29, but then I lost everything in the great crash and just couldn't get excited about basketball anymore.

You are the only one around here that was alive back then.

Roy Dixon III is listed on the NUSports.com roster.......

https://nusports.com/roster.aspx?path=mbball

Yup, that's the guy whose tape I posted. Though I usually lol at private school competition,,some of these teams did not look horrendous (if you want to use some really horrendous play for comparison, check out some of the Washington Generals-like teams that the Belgian kid who committed to the Illini recently has on tape). and Dixon actually appears to play quite under control for a PG (contract to the crazy out-of-control tape we saw on Vassar, for example). Probably was overlooked due to his size, but I wouldn't be shocked if he contributed, particularly this year (when we are thin) and, if he works hard and sticks with the program, his senior year as well. But a lot can happen between now and then. Will be a decent practice body as our new second walk-on, perhaps better than Charlie since it will be nice to be able to run 3 PG looks in practice I would imagine...

As an aside, wonder if he is related to the other Roy Dixon who played for us in the early to mid 80s? I think he may have been a walk-on as well (his last year was my freshman year, and barely recall him even then).

Yes; that’s Roy Jr’s son. Same family.

I thought we were supposed to call them Georgia King baskets.

(Never mind.)

For athletes, getting that fresh new gear can be like Christmas morning sometimes.

One of my favorite days was gear issue. For S & D, it meant parkas, sweats, Ts, and tiny swimsuits. I held on to that stuff as long as I could. But slowly, the people that wandered through my life carried it all away. Even the parkas. :(
