Its been awhile since I have driven through there but never looked like much of anything to do. Assuming you are moving for a job?

At least they caught the BTK Killer.

Anybody know the area?
Moving away from Evansville?? Are you from this area originally? Assuming this is work related?

Sorry with all the questions…. I’ve been to Kansas a few times but never to Salinas. Good luck with your move.

What I know about Salina Kansas:

The Shady Lady is a great place to hang out and drink some cold ones, but beware of the smell from the massive stockyards next door.

Oh, and watch out for 1 of the 300 tornados that seems to go through Salina every year.

Stopped and spent the night there on the way to Denver. I skimped on hotel money as we were getting into town late and leaving early. Had the worst hotel experience of my life at the now defunct Ambassador Inn and Suites. Place smelled like a mix of mildew, chlorine and cigs. There were potholes the size of a samll town in the parking lot, placed backed up to a trailer park, complete with a large swastika spray painted on the fence that separated the park from the motel. Pretty sure I saw at least 2 drug deals go down in the parking lot.

As for the town itself, seemed like your average midsize Kansas town.

It’s job related…I was stationed at Whiteman AFB, MO so I sort of know the region (tho Salina is further west). I liked it out there. I just got the offer, so it’s definitely happening!! As a hunter, there’s lots of cool critters to chase…mule deer, pronghorn, whitetail, elk, bear, etc all within a reasonable distance. My taxidermy bill will be going up!

I too spent the night there once while on the way to Denver, CO. It was in December, just remember that it was cold outside, other than that I have no info to share. I do remember how flat the state of Kansas was while driving.

Did you take I-70?

I felt like I was in Kansas for 9 days.

None of that matters if it included a free breakfast.

Yes. Drove from RMNP to Hayes, KS - hour short of Salinas - in about 8 hours. Next day until 2a the following day drove from Hays to NKy. Got to LV & I couldn't take anymore & DW did the rest.

Well all I know about is from Roy D By God Mercer. Sharon Jean his wife, attended a wrestling referee seminar in Selina, Kansas once. So maybe if it is in town again you can maybe work on a back up career just in case.
