I've read several compettive boards and even this one where we are going back to the "hurry up:", Leach style offense, but I haven't really read anything on how Samije Perine will fit into this new offense. I've seen where Joe Mixson will be a natural at the running back and moving to slot receiver. Well that's all and good, but where does Perine fit into the equation? He's no Q, he's a reincarnation of Earl Campbell ,IMO.

Perine had like 1400 hundred rushing yards +in limited playing time this year. Feed him the ball and he's a 2000 yard rusher plus this year.

Mr Riley, how do plan on using him this year, esp with questionable Q-B play?

Perine will be OU's main offensive weapon and I believe that OU's starting quarterback can do well because of Perine's presence....if some other issues can be resolved.

Three things must happen for OU's offense to do well:
Receiving corps has to improve....running better routes and not dropping passes.
Offensive line needs to be solid....this to me is the biggest question mark on offense, more so than the QB situation. Only two starters return in Kasitati and Darlington, both of whom are decent but not prolific performers.
One of the four quarterbacks must take over the starting job in April and hold onto it. I don't want to see OU go into August drills with the QB position still up for grabs. My bet is onThomas.....but whoever it is, there must be improved play from his supporting cast.

Lincoln Riley said that his offense has evolved into an offense similar to that of WVU, but he is going to get all of the top talent on the field as much as he can. Whether that means run the ball or pass the ball, the playmakers will be on the field.

I've read that. Nothing about Perine being the featured running back that he is. I've read where he is known for a 60\40
type for the offense pass. That doesn't leave that many carries for our top offensive threat. I guess we'll see..............

Because it's been asked in the past, I figured I would share a little nugget I heard during a Cale Gundy interview, where he said that Riley will be down on the sidelines during games. Cale is going to be up in the pressbox.

That is interesting...have any idea where he was at during the games at ECU?

With a spread formation, Perine shouldn't need as many carries and his ypc should increase. If we can have a consistent passing game and Perine facing 6 man fronts instead of 8.

I think you are spot on. Sooner fans will be pleasantly surprised with the new offense.

I look at it like this, Riley turned ECU's offense into a top 5 offense 3 out of 5 years or something like that. OU will give him better talent so his offense should only improve in an OU uniform.
