MSU is the Rodney Dangerfield of the SEC

We never get respect. We have never been in consideration for the NCAAT. It seems like we always set the record for most wins not to get in tournament. I would like to believe we would get some love with a victory over LSU, but I realize this would only be good for a box score. MSU will not be mentioned on ESPN without winning the tournament. The media could care less about us.

The overall SEC is not talked about. MSU does not need to be talked about because of the early non-conf. record. That is facts.

However, it needs to be in our hands and we need to win the next 2. Respect is based upon results and how well we perform.

So... let's just win the whole darn thing! Go State!

if we win tomorrow...look out, we have to be considered.

Those early season screw ups are hurting. Oh well, that's basketball.

The good part is, though, that there's not a team left in this thing that we can't beat. Doing it may be a different story, but we can definitely beat all these teams

...and everything to do with our RPI in the 80s. We don't deserve consideration unless we win the SEC tournament.

RPI, etc and made it to the semifinals of the SECT...would they be in the NCAAT? I say yes.

...that KY and MSU's record and RPI are very, very similar and KY is "way off the bubble" according to Lunardi, I would say that your conspiracy theory is unfounded, at least for this year.

...from Lunardi's latest chat:

Les Louisville, ky [via mobile]: This may have been asked but is uk in or out?

Joe Lunardi: WAY out.

..during the Lawrence Roberts era, ESPN kissed plenty of MSU ***.

Even when we were good in football, we usually got mad props from ESPN. (And they kissed the hell out of Croom's ***, even during those years he didn't go 8-5).

This is the way it works: When you suck, ESPN either tells the truth & reports you suck, or they ignore you all together.

Fortunate for us, they've been leaning towards the ignoring thing lately.

Lunardi had them in the first 4 out. Meanwhile their resume was basically the same as ours at the time. Since then I guess they are 0-2. I have to think Lunardi was wrong to have them there but if they'd gone 3-0 since then like we have then there's no way not to move them into the field based on that projection. Not to mention, at the time Florida and Auburn were not even in his first 8 out despite clearly having better resumes than UK.

is that they have their homer teams- like Duke and UNC that they talk about more than the others, but if you're good, they'll at least talk about you a little.

That's why I like MLB Network- you get objective coverage for all teams, instead of how the Red Sox and Yankees are going to react to the Royals signing Gil Meche. And the fact that they're all about the sport, and not some stupid Mount Rushmore of Sports BS, and the fact that they actually show classic baseball games instead of giving me the life story of Muhammad Ali like they do on ESPN Classic. Oh, and the analysts are actually seriously talking about the sport instead of having the "court jester" like Lou Holtz that says stupid things to make people that don't know what the heck they're talking about feel better about themselves and sensationalist like Skip Bayless, who looks like he is about to bust a vein in his forehead, when he is saying something- usually stupid and or wrong.

If there's anything that can take down the World Wide Leader, it's these League Networks- MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, etc.- that do what ESPN originally intended to do- talk about sports.
