Mexico overall is overwhelmingly safe. We're heading to Merida Mexico for 2 months in April. It's currently the second safest city in North America behind Quebec City.

We spend months there away from the touristy beach towns. The middle of the country is full of beautiful Unesco Word Heritage sites. The wife and I walk everywhere and have never felt unsafe. That said, we'd never visit cities/states on the do not travel advisory list and we wouldn't hang out after dark.

Encouraging people to stop using drugs and taking action against criminals who supply them are not mutually exclusive.
I wasn't advocating mere encouragement. And the dealers will be replaced faster than you can take them out, as they have for decades.

There’s pretty much nothing I like about you on here (you may be okay in other settings). Sometimes it just needs to be said, even if it doesn’t move the needle outside my own head.

Whatever.

Can you dispute anything I posted?

Tell us your solution.

obviously not- but focusing on demand by making drug use penalties truly draconian

it will never happen because we lack the will
You can buy anything you want - including forms of hashish - at a dispensary in FL w/ a MMJ card. Drug use isn't going away.

Our Federal Gubmint is simply targeting the bad guys with the bad drugs - China and Mexico. And rightfully so.

The situation will never get better, but efforts to keep it from getting worse are welcomed.

My work as a maritime consultant has taken me to lot of those small western Mexico towns with deepwater ports, "sketchy" doesn't quite cover it. I won't go back.

Didn't The Love Boat use to stop in Puerta Vallerta? I wonder who is captaining that ship since Captain Stubing has passed on. Maybe Gopher is at the helm.

But practical. Which we don't get from our Federal Gubmint very often. They can start drone bombing Cartel leaders/houses/etc. tomorrow. No skin off my apple. Sorry, not sorry.
Sure, do nothing about the real problem and spend more money bombing. And China? Are we bombing them too? Didn't think so.

China's drug syndicate's entrance to the US is being shut off at the southern border. Unless FedEx and UPS is asleep on the job.

You are the dumass that in one thread was crying that Franklin dwould not take risks and then one page later you were crying the team lost because Franklin took a a risk.

Get your shine box.

Ehhhhh, unfortunately, once the internal Cartel war in Mexico crowns a new king, shipments will be as regular as ever. New routes, new methods, new addictions, new combinations of drugs, etc. etc. Wash, rinse, repeat. The Chinese are always looking at new routes as well, just visit Viet Nam.

Pardoning a drug kingpin like the president of Honduras ( 4000 tons of Blow was it? ) sends the message that the pharmacy is always open if you can pay the tax.

War on drugs. Everybody snicker. We would be better off focusing on getting folks in Texas, South Carolina, and elsewhere to get their kids vaccinated against measles.

Apparently in retaliation for the government killing the head of a cartel. I know some people who have property there and a distant inlaw who is currently there.
I understand that Puetro Vallara was always safe.
Delta Force was the leading force and part of the killing of that animal Mencho. You can expect a big uptick in American Military in Mexico. It has quickly become more than Mexico can handle. Just put American Military Bases in Mexico and take care of the problem.

You're clueless. Delta Force has been in Mexico working with the Mexican forces for 4 months. The CIA found the Munchkin helping arrange taking him down. The CIA via Trump have also pledged to keep her Mexican Majesty protected from the Cartel while this war proceeds.

It is, of course, unrelated to the current matter of a drug cartel chief being eliminated: But, IIRC:

In addition to the very complex and impactful case regarding "shielding through bankruptcy" Purdue Pharma bankruptcy: How the Supreme Court decision may impact victims | CNN Business - which led to a very interesting SCOTUS ruling (different people will have different takes on that ruling - including, of course, the Justices themselves... it was a 5-4 ruling), there was at least one person involved in that Purdue fiasco who was sentenced to prison time.
That person was the Purdue Pharma consultant at McKinsey (some folks, I am sure, are very familiar with McKinsey). IIRC, He was criminally convicted and sentenced to federal prison (For a relatively short time. 1 year? Something like that). Plenty of others who, I am sure, a lot of folks would have liked to have seen spend time in the clink. But a lot of very interesting cases came in the fallout of that bit.

I am not aware of any others convicted of criminal violations/given prison time..... but that is OTTOMH.
To put a consultant in prison is comical. A few of the Sacklers should have been convicted but they have powerful allies on both sides. I doubt anyone will see a fraction of that $7b from the civil suit
