The rotation
Start Lowe, Oweh, Williams, Mo, Quatance
Moreno, Aberdeen, garrison off the bench
This rotation has to get major mins going forward.
Aberdeen come in for Williams
JJ in for Oweh minimumly
Moreno in for Mo or jell pf and Moreno subs JQ
Garrison in for Quatance at times
Minimize Chandler, JJ, Jelly, and Garrisons mins

Defense
We cannot go under screens anymore!!!!!!!
Over play the screen aggressively everytime!!
(Double fing team the hell out of the ball on the screen)
Our defense is not aggressive enough and I know the refs are gonna call fouls and we may get in foul trouble but if you play aggressive long enough they will eventually adjust. Make officials adjust to the game don’t let your defense adjust to officiating (sounds dumb I know but it works).

Offense
Learn how to move the ball. Learn how to move the ball. Learn how to move the ball.
Hoosiers- 5 passes before you shoot lol.
Our only major hope of scoring the basketball is transition. Push the dang pace. Let Lowe be Lowe and get in the lane to create. Oweh played better today and has got to keep driving down hill. Pick and roll Quatance. Williams needs to keep shooting.

Rebounding
We got beat on the boards today which is why I was mostly upset other than our piss poor perimeter defense. No team should beat us on rebounding. Offensive boards and put backs need to be a key element to our success.

Coaching
Pope yelling let’s go guys makes me almost as mad as when Cal yelled gooooo all the time.
Pope shaking his head in agreement with officials pisses me off. There’s more to coaching than analytics and a drawing board which he’s not very good at anyway.
Work the dang refs! Disagree with every call if you have to. Show emotion like you did against North Carolina central lol. Rip the jerseys off these players and line their arse out. They get paid to play and they are playing with our money. We knew Bama was gonna shoot 3 after 3 after 3 and it didn’t seem like we worked on that at all during this long week.
Quit with this stupid subbing. Quit starting Chandler and giving him major mins. He’s not good enough and is a huge liability. Cut this rotation down to 8 eventhough I’d cut it down to 7 lol.
I’m upset we lost today but mainly upset with the coaching and effort. Sorry for long post.

I think not concentrating on rebounding was our biggest thing today. Turnovers, steals, blocked shots were pretty much a push, but Alabama loses when out rebounded by a decent margin. That, and 3 pt defense, was our losing ticket. Going over screens and not using help defense so much on drives I think gives us a much better chance.
I think it’s becoming evident that we have to, as your post states, start Lowe, JQ, Oweh, and another 6-8 or bigger, then the fifth can be shifted between different players depending on the matchup situation. Bringing them in after getting down some points is done.

My Bama game observations

Aberdeen- athletic but no offense, takes terrible contested shots, only shoot if you drive! If he does not play defense should not be on the court

Chandler - where is the Spring 2025 player?

Offense

1. No structure, looks like 5 guys playing pickup who just met each other
2. Dribble, dribble, dribble as other 4 watch
3. Play 2 bigs but don’t go inside, where is Joe B when we need him?
4. No crashing the boards, we miss most shots so why not go get misses
5. Mostly 1 on 1 with a high ball screen
6. No transition fast break after defensive rebound
7. Get few easy shots because of little ball and player movement so settle for bad shots. Where is the zoom?
8. No hard cuts, no back cuts just slow movement with no purpose
9. Shoot poorly because of poor offense- most shots are forced not open looks

Defense

1. Pressed after 1st basket, that’s all folks
2. Stand up too much, cannot contain dribbler so others constantly scrambling to help
3. No pressure on ball screens
4. Constantly fighting through multiple Bama screens on each possession

Positives

1. Liked the all blue uniforms

General

1. CMP seems to be trying to keep everyone happy with playing time
2. Health does not make up for lack of effort
3. JQ tiptoeing for rebounds. Never noticed his presence on defense

Agree Peter,
No excuse for not rebounding with our size vs an undersized team. Individual defense is pitiful leading to help from others leading to uncontested 3’s.
As coach I would start and play those who extend great effort on defense and use full court pressure to take some time off the shot clock.
CMP stated we needed better ball movement. Wouldn’t that occur if you were running an offense?

Bama is hard to guard as they are constantly moving and screening. Conversely, We are easy to guard due to our excess dribbling and standing around.

I still believe there is dissension, personality conflicts, or something else that leads to poor effort. The lack of either offensive or defensive execution and success can be traced to the lack of effort. Not fixable IMO!

Pope seems to be trying to ram a square peg into a round hole with his offensive philosophy. Why have a big like JQ if you don't run a BUNCH of pick and rolls for him. He looked lost against Bama.I also can't fathom why we don't guard the 3 point line more effectively, once again this seems to be a coaching choice. Extend out to the 3 point line and let your rim protector protect if the teams guards drive in.
