My reasons why UKs win yesterday is the most unexpected big win in school history

1. Game was on the road. In UKs history they now have a total of 4 wins on the road v top 11 teams:

1947 at #10 Vandy
1964 at #1 Ole Miss
1977 at #4 Penn St.
2016 at #11 U of L

2. UK was 27.5 point underdogs. I doubt very seriously that UK in any of the other 3 wins listed above were underdogs by 4 TD's.

3. Game v. Arch Rival U of L:
None of the other 3 GMs listed above were v a rival much less the most bitter.

4. The win snapped U of L's 5 gm winning streak in the series and gave UK a 15-14 lead in the series all time.

5. Biggest win in the Stoops era and potentially huge for the program in terms of recruiting, especially in state.

6. Gets UK to 7-5 instead of 6-6 and a bigger bowl game.

7. The way UK won it v the best player in college football, coming back from down 10 points and getting the miracle fumble recovery late that saved the day.

8. This same U of L team gave a solid FSU team its worst loss in school history 63-20 on the same field UK triumphed on.

So there you have it, sure we have won v higher rated teams even on the road but not many and none v our rival and as 4 TD underdogs before yesterday.

That win could be a program changer.

That was my initial reaction, but after thinking about it some more, I tend to agree with the OP, primarily due to timing. The program really needed the 7th win and to shed the perception we were pulling up the rear in the Commonwealth in the same season in which we completed our facility upgrades. Finishing this recruiting cycle en fuego is made possible by this kind of swagger around the program, and we need to finish STRONG. Lynn Bowden, Joshua Paschal (and others) get on the bus!

The timing of the win was/is perfect. I can get onboard with that. But if we'd played this game two weeks ago, and played UT yesterday, and reverse the outcomes, we're in the exact same position. And I wouldn't have considered a win over UT the greatest in our history either. Not even close. It's Stoops' best win. That's good enough.

I can agree with 4, 5, 6, & 7, however, I contend that the victory in 1950, vs Oklahoma to give UK it's only Natl. Championship was by far the most significant victory in UK's LESS than Storied History!!!

I wouldn't say the greatest ever but I would say the sweetest for me personally. Partly because it was so unexpected. But mainly because of what it cost U of L and their obnoxious fanbase. They lose the BCS bowl game. They probably lose the Heisman Trophy. The lose the winning streak against us that they thought would never end. But mainly they lose all the great feelings they had about their program. To see them in such a combined state of shock, anger, and sadness truly warms my heart.

Give it up OP, GD UL. We should beat them and we should be competitive. Beating OKL. in Sugar Bowl, beating Ga and LSU by over 30 on the road in 77, Beating Penn St. 2 years in a row. Beating LSU In 2007, beating Aub and Ga on road with Rich, beating Alabama with Couch, winning against Clemson in Music City bowl, UNC at Peach Bowl.

The UL game was a good win but geez, they are a one man team, if they had been undefeated, Houston beat them to a pulp. Let it go. There are 25 wins that are better, the year Guy Morris won at UL against Ragone. Stevie Johnson game was bigger IMO>

The 1951 Sugar Bowl was by far the biggest win in school history. Yesterday was a great win, but not close to the bowl win to cap the 1950 season off.

Granted it was a big win but, for met it's not the biggest but maybe in the top 10...
