Redshirting in HS actually does occur.and rightly so. Boys mature a little later than girls . Many boys are labeled as ADD because they are fidgety or overactive when they start school .
Boys do much better if they start school a year later than currently recommended by gender inconsiderate guidelines.
_Here's a tip for future fathers-delay starting school for your sons by one year-you will probably never get the call that "junior fell off his chair " and should be medicated
I understand what you are saying, but then the boys who do not have ADD and can handle the academic and emotional rigors get cheated against in sports since the freshman they are competing against is 16. In our area in NW Chicago suburbs, there were 3 boys in one of my son’s grade who were held back before 1st Grade since they went to a private kindergarten. There are two girls on my daughter’s middle school who should be in a higher grade. Some families do this All these kids played sports and were bigger, stronger, more coordinated and faster than many others at their class level giving them a huge advantage and cheating others out of a chance to make a team. Think of the devastation of a kid who does not make team by losing out to a student who should be at a higher grade. Your advice is to cheat and not play by the rules which govern everyone. Now if they could be held back academically, but had to do all extra-curricular at their age level, I would agree. However, that would never happen.
