I quit watching when they de-masculinated it in the mid 90's with the Jeff Gordon's of the world. He himself went through quite a transformation to become the marketing giant he was. It was around the same time.

I understand now that races are broken up into segments and the car that crosses the finish line first at the end of the race may not be the "total winner" for the event. Participation trophies are next!
