Got a good commitment from TE Dez Melton today, he has a nice looking offer list.

Thinking we’ll close out with Boykin, Edwards, Starks, and Watts. End the class with 14 commits and 2-3 grad transfers.

Zach Edwards was a HUGE late pickup today. Edwards and Boykin will see plenty of playing time next season, both might actually crack the starting lineup.

Few things I noticed when looking at 247 and rivals. As we all know the pure number of spots impacted our class, but when you look at the average rating of the folks we DID get, the class would have been in the 40's if we ended up with 20 recruits. All in all these guys did what they could while putting together a staff and hitting the trail to fill voids and find kids that fit the system both from a skills and culture perspective. Practice starts Monday, so lets roll!! Go cards.

When the coaches have to get the OLine from 8 back to 13 in one class, the star ratings suffer. However, I feel like we landed some real difference makers on the defensive side. A great effort by the Staff considering they only had 2-3 weeks of contact time to land these kids. My fav may be R Brown though on the OLine. Reminds me of John Miller.

We all know the circumstances. By design it was going to be a smaller than usual class. The roster was previously mismanaged. The new coaching staff didn't have a lot of time. We get it. The Rivals recruit ranking database goes back to 2002. This year's class is the lowest ranked, per Rivals, in 17 years. The previously "worst" class, 76th, in 2009. This year's class is ranked 88th. ESPN has the class ranked 68th. 24/7 has it at 73rd.

Anybody remember what that 76th ranked class in 2009 was able to do when they were juniors and seniors (2012 and 2013)?

That should tell all of us that the rankings are merely the beginning....

The '09 class would have to have been red shirt seniors in '13. There were 10 of them, most notably Damian "Honey Mustard" Copeland.
