I saw this article posted on Facebook about the NBA Summer League. It has the schedule for the Summer League games for Zion, RJ, Cam and even Marques. Zion and RJ will play against each other during Summer League and Marques will play Summer League with Cleveland. All 4 of Zion’s, RJ’s and Cam’s games will air on either one of the ESPN channels or on NBATV.. Marques has 8 games scheduled between Summer League and Salt Lake City Summer League. There’s more info in the link about matchups.

I plan on watching as many of these as possible. It's crazy how summer league is a "thing" now, whereas 10 years ago nobody even knew when it was taking place or what was going on.

I'm assuming ESPN will have Zion and RJ on one of the main channels as much as possible.

3 of their 4 Summer League games will be on one of the ESPN channels with the 4th being on NBATV

Explain to me why you would play in a summer league game being the number 1 pick. What do you have to gain by doing this?

Pretty sure the #1 pick has played in summer league every year barring an injury.
Zion should be playing, he’s got his contract, about to sign his shoe deal. There’s no more “protecting” him because he’s an amateur.

What he gets to gain is this will be the best competition he has played in his entire life.

I’d be surprised if he doesn’t play in the Summer because one of the Pelicans games is against the Knicks, so I imagine he’ll be looking forward to playing against RJ in an NBA game.

Bolden would be a great fit with the Cavs. Henson and Tristan are going into the last season of their contracts. Bolden would be a solid big man for the future.

If he can get better at catching the ball, he has enough else in his game to contribute.

Back in the day, a lot of the top picks didn't play summer league. That's changed. With possible exception to the NFL, no other professional sports league does a better job branding itself than the NBA. I have friends who think I'm crazy for watching summer league, but I really enjoy it. I'm looking forward to it even more this year than in the past....for obvious reasons.

Looking forward to the RJ Zion matchup. At countdown to craziness both of them had that look in their eyes and went all out.

I think top ten picks play every other game and are limited in minutes. Some teams give top picks the choice to play.

So is Scotty Pipen now going to tell Zion to not play in the summer league so doesn't get hurt?

Next it will be "don't play hard in regular season, save it for the playoffs". At what point does anyone actually compete? Its a matter of guys not wanting $ and not being figured out as subpar.
