One of the reasons why this trial gets less publicity than the earlier one where Adidas was paying players is that in this one Adidas representatives are paying assistant coaches. It’s just not as sensational a story as “UofL and Adidas paid $100,000 for Brian Bowen.”

What’s impossible to track (and thus no one is talking about) is just exactly how much of that bribe money to assistant coaches was then paid to players, whether they were already in the program or whether the assistant coach was trying to convince them to come play for the program.

To me, that’s the real story behind all of this. We’ve already seen what Andre McGee and Kevin Johnson were doing with their spending money to sign players. One of the main questions everybody asked about McGee when the news broke was where did all his spending cash come from? This story at least gives us some insight into where it might have come from.

Uh, having a guy like “dick” Pitino as your head coach will get you a substantial amount of press. They just loved to report on that guy. Plus then our BOT reacted stupidly in their method of firing Pitino and then Tom Jurich giving the media, both national and local, even more ammunition for reporting on anything negative about UofL. We’ll just have to assume a “wait and see” attitude about this situation. At least I will.
