Then what's the point of the conference tournament??
To make money for the conferences and determine their AQs. Wassn't always that way. Ivy league was the last holdout, going to a tournament, as opposed to regular season, five years ago.

Two number one seeds lost their conference tournament finals.

B1G teams and their seeding in the tournament:

Purdue - #1 seed in the East Region
Indiana - #4 seed in the Midwest Region
NW - #7 seed in the West Region
MSU - #7 seed in the East Region
Iowa - #8 seed in the Midwest Region
Maryland - #8 seed in the South Region
Illinois - #9 seed in the West Region
PSU - #10 seed in the Midwest Region
Get rid of Purdue and we are 10-2 vs those teams.

I’ve heard the competition for that seed was murder.

So UNC missed the NCAA tournament then "chose not to participate" in the NIT. Apparently they felt it was beneath them.

Some talk that TAMU is underseeded, should be a #5. Apparently they got left out last year and the coach went ballistic; some scuttlebutt that this years seeding is retaliation for that.
