From this article at NCAA.com
(https://www.ncaa.com/news/wrestling...championships-selection-show-info-bracket-and):

"After all the conference tournaments have concluded, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee will meet in person to select the remaining 42 at-large qualifiers, which will be announced on March 10, while brackets and seeding will be announced on NCAA.com at 8 p.m. on March 11."
So then I wondered who comprises the NCAA Division 1 Wrestling Committee.

The
NCAA Division I Men's Wrestling Oversight Committee for the 2025-26 season is chaired by
Matt Valenti from the University of Pennsylvania.

2025-26 Committee Roster
As of late 2025, the committee included members from several institutions, including
Tricia Brandenburg
(Army),
Damion Hahn
(South Dakota State),
Doug Tiedt
(Wisconsin),
John Hangey
(Rider),
Chris Helms
(Virginia Tech),
Neil Erisman
(Little Rock),
Tim Day
(Iowa State), and
Noah Mulvaney
(Bucknell).

Ex Officio & Key Liaisons
Key contributors to committee proceedings included
Jimmy Chung
(Rules Editor),
Mike McCormick
(Officials Coordinator),
Mark Bedics
(NCAA Liaison), and
Jim Fallis
(NWCA). Additionally,
Mike Grey
(Cornell) and
Matt Whisenant
(Wyoming) were added to the playing rules subcommittee.

The committee oversees crucial operations, such as at-large selections and qualifying allocations.

Wrestling by Pirate does a great job guesstimating the at large bids as he runs the math. Wrestlestat's RPI isn't the greatest but it's better than nothing and no one has the newest coaches' rankings but it's still a great stab.

FWIW, quick look at NCAA seeding math says Blaze will likely get the 3 over Seidel. It'll come down to RPI and final coaches' rank -- Seidel needs to win both categories. Blaze is #1 in the last regular season RPI. Seidel is now qualified for an RPI and it should be a strong one.

1 will be Forrest or Davino, whoever is higher in the coaches' poll. Davino was ahead in the last regular season poll.

5-8 are likely Larkin, Ayala, Byrd, and Knox in that order.

Davis probably looks like a 13 to 15 seed, and Cole I think around 7-9
I think Davis is the 12, but could be as low as 14. The 11-15 range is pretty murky.

The easy part:
1 - Mendez
2 - Vega
3-4 - Echemendia and Hardy, whoever wins coaches poll (Ech ahead today)
5 - Stanich (#5 poll, beat Cornella, no RPI, weak Quality Wins)
6 - Cornella (#6 poll, Ivy champ, 95% W-L, #5 RPI)

The next grouping:
- Current poll says 7 Olivieri, 8 Vombaur, 9 Composto, 10 Tagg, 11 Bailey
- Bailey will move up after B10 3rd beating Vombaur + Olivieri. Tagg will drop, B12 6th and got upset twice.
7-8 - Bailey and Composto, whoever wins coaches poll
9-10 - Vombaur and Olivieri, whoever wins coaches poll (Vombaur should after finishing higher at B10s)

The next grouping:
- Current poll says 10 Tagg, 12 Davis, 13 Jack, 14 Consiglio, 15 Simcox
- Davis only had 2 wins over NQs, max 5 if DeKraker and Porter get At Larges. Also, he just now qualifies for an RPI, projected in the same range as Simcox and Jack, well below Consiglio, well above Tagg.
- ACC finish: 1 Consiglio, 2 Simcox, 3 Jack
- IMO Tagg drops below Davis in the poll. Consiglio likely passes Davis in the poll, but beats Davis regardless.

11 - Consiglio. 6-8 wins over NQs, ACC champ. I think he'll pass Davis in the poll.
12-14 = Davis, Simcox, Jack in coaches poll order (note, Simcox should pass Jack in the poll but gets a higher seed regardless due to H2H and ACC finish)

I heard they’re recommending a 6 seed boost for victims of missed pulled singlet grabs at the conference tournaments.

What also makes this funny: if Ferrari hadn't forfeited out to 8th at B10s, then he absolutely would've had a top 6 seed -- and then this would've given him a 0 or negative seed.

HWT looks like:
1 - Bastida
2 - Trumble
3 - Ghadiali
4 - Ferrari

Feldman beat Ferrari 2-1 in H2H but loses in the sim. Ferrari is higher in the poll, RPI, and conference finish.

5-7 will be Feldman, Doucet, and Taylor in some order. Coaches poll likely decides this.

The rest of the last coaches poll: 7 Carroll, 8 Cole, 9 Taylor, 10 Kueter, 11 Amos, 12 Hopke. (Taylor passes Cole regardless after winning EIWAs, plus H2H.)

8-10 will be Carroll, Kueter, and Cole in some order. On the surface, in that order. Depends on how far Carroll drops in the poll after going 1-2 DNP at B12s with a really bad loss. Kueter is 3rd in the group in Win % and has no RPI -- but he'll be ranked ahead of Cole + finished higher at B10s.

Cole beat Amos and finished ahead of Hopke, so his floor is the 10.

Can you do 157? I know Duke is 1 but who follows?

Maybe can do the math tonight ... gotta work sometime!

In the meantime, gut says Taylor and Shapiro will be the 2-3 in whatever order. I don't think Taylor can slip to 4 but might be wrong. Shapiro beat Larkin H2H.

Larkin 4 after winning B12s, but has no RPI after moving up from 149.

Robideau is pretty much locked into 5, lost H2H to Larkin.

Next group will be Zerban, Watters, Webster, Cardenas, maybe Swisher -- in some order.

Zerban is going to drop. There's the health provision in the other factors and they also seem to punish "at large" wrestlers.

Swisher at 6 ahead of both Cardenas and Webster (at least) might be Lobdell sh**posting again.

It presumes a pretty big bump in the poll for beating Shapiro. Swisher is #10 in the current poll.

Maybe he's right but it's counter-intuitive.

Is Gabe Arnold gonna be a 33-seed or are those reserved for at-large bids?
They are not reserved for at-large. They are the lowest in criteria. He onky has matches at 197 in the NCAA tournament so he’s likely to be really low. His performance finishing 9th is pretty ugly too. Probably in the 30’s anyway.

if he focused on TD’s he might win some. But….he wrestles for Iowa. Outside of Caliendo and Peterson, that isn’t their style. They’d rather have more stalling calls to create excitement.

Thinking Blaze is closer to getting the 2 seed than Forrest is to getting the 1

That has to be one of the dumbest thing the coaches have ever done if true. Davino was ahead and won a conference with the #1 and #2 beating the #1. Forrest did nothing in a weak conference to jump him. If they would have moved Forrest ahead after his demolition of Ayala, it would be understandable to some degree.

I'm not aware of any previous ranking scenarios where wrestler (b) jumped over wrestler (a) who just beat the #2 ranked wrestler in the country

You are correct, my bad. Byrd was the #1 rank and Blaze was #2. I mixed them with the seeds.
