Pretty goo spanking. As I type this, Huskers are up by 30. Transitive comparison are usually not good, but this provides further fodder for the demise of CC.

Yeah we stunk the gym the other night and there really was no good excuse for that but a very good explanation: poor coaching decisions. Let's see what tomorrow brings against a good Iowa team who really owes us one for Bohannon's buzzer 3 a few years ago.

If NU wins out and PSU loses out we can still get a bye to Thursday!

(This is unlikely)

What it shows is that every game is different. Maryland beat OSU today. Penn State lost to Wisconsin by 2. Lots can happen in one game. Really off the mark conclusion about what this “provides”.

Didn't CCC spank UNL not once but twice?

Here's what I see:

1) Our defense has problems but it is, overall, fairly decent.

2) Our offense blows, big time.

3) Statistically, in B1G play, we are #10 in both points allowed and scored. This contradicts what I said before. Until you check some more advanced stats. According to Torvik, in B1G play we are #12 in offensive efficiency. We are #5 in defensive efficiency

4) Why do we smoke Nebraska? Their defense absolutely blows. We look like a fluid offense getting easy shots against them. It really fits nicely for us

5) When we face teams that actually get physical with us, we crumble. We rush shots, we make terrible decisions. PSU, for example, a respectable #8 on defense. Nebraska? #13. #14 is Minnesota, where we simply did not show up. Or maybe we just can't attack zone.

6) It's not that we just can't make shots like so many comment over and over again during games. Our ability to make good decisions on offense is bad. Real bad. The eye test tells me that when watching games and I see said comments and wonder if I am seeing the same game.

7) It's not like I think we can't get better shots against better teams. I do not expect us to look like our offense against Nebraska, but I expect us to do better. But we don't. From our lineups, to the plays not adjusted to the strengths and weaknesses, to the horrible decision making, it's out of whack

8) We complain, me included, about Young on the bench against PSU. And it's justified. But the truth is that #7 is a structural and much bigger problem. That does not get solved in a huddle and not even in a week of practice. It is a long term proposition. It's a grind to perfect. And our coach simply can't.

Not to oversimplify things, but I think our ball movement is really poor on offense. There is too much dribbling and our decision-making is really slow. The next time I see Buie or Audige penetrate and kick to an open shooter for three may be the first.

Nebraska also beat OSU in C'Bus tonight. Looking like a better win for NU every day.

UNL takes down Wisconsin in Madtown. Huskers on a roll since Hoiberg took a pay cut. Maybe NU should do the same with Collins.
