22, I agree that the Big Eight days were much more fun for Sooner fans my age. As for the Husker fans, I always enjoyed the vast majority and I truly believe they enjoyed having OU as a rival. It was a two way street. It really heated up in the sixties and continued until the Big XII. For me it was never the same when the two schools quit playing annual regular season games. Still, I miss not being in the conference with Nebraska. I still have a few friends going back to the late seventies that are Husker fans. We email during the season a few times just to keep in touch.

I'm sure there is animosity on this board towards Nebraska. They are the ones that bolted so good riddance. Welcome to a forever second tier status in the Big X. Why would they care what Sooner fans think anyway?

There is no reason to expect them to care what Sooner fans think. Just as you don't care about them. But for a few of us remaining old timers, sportsmanship and generally being a gentleman are pretty important too. No apolgies here for not being a jerk towards them.

To any Huskers reading this thread:

There are a few posters here who would come under the "unfriendly" (or worse) label. I would suggest applying my motto:

Don't judge all of them by the worst of them.

Speaking of sauces, do they still manufacture Selmon Bros in Norman? I found a single bottle of HOT lately and snatched up. Pretty tasty...

HELLO...! Bueler...? Bueler??? Is Anyone awake out there? SELMONS...Sauce? Anybody???

I haven't seen it in some time. I know Albertsons carried it but since they were bought out by Homeland I haven't been back. Crest might have it. I make my own BBQ sauce so I skip that section.

LOL at some of you "self righteous" posters who are declaring yourselves best friends with the Nebraska Cornhuskers and bashing anyone who declares they have no interest in conversing with them now that they are in another conference. I was on this board when NU bolted for the Big X and I if my recollection serves me right, there was not a poster on this board that was happy about the departure and almost all were very vocal about expressing displeasure with NU. I hold no distain for the Huskers except did not care for the Bill Callahan years.

I too miss the Big 8 and the rivalry with NU but it's not relevant in today's college football world. Sooooo, NU, unless you are on our schedule, you will not see me responding to any of your posts. And, unlike some hypocrites on this board, I will simply ignore you and will not attack your posts. Except for the year you left, I have never replied negatively to any Cornhusker post. Post away.

That's all.

PryorFan, post: 128817, member: 3144"]LOL at some of you "self righteous" posters who are declaring yourselves best friends with the Nebraska Cornhuskers...

I've mentioned it here many times that I grew up a Husker fan in the 60's and 70's. Ya think that might have something to do with my caring about Nebraska? The thread that has you so bent out of shape was about Buffalo Wing Sauce and the company owned by a long-time Husker-friend of this message board. It wasn't about football. It was about freaking Buffalo Wings.

and bashing anyone who declares they have no interest in conversing with them now that they are in another conference.

You must have some interest or you would have ignore the thread.

I was on this board when NU bolted for the Big X and I if my recollection serves me right, there was not a poster on this board that was happy about the departure and almost all were very vocal about expressing displeasure with NU.

There were different reasons we were not happy. Some just flat-out hate the Huskers and wished them disaster. Some were pissed at Texas and Dodds for screwing up the Big XII and running them off. Some were upset that our long time rival was leaving and it was a hard pill to swallow. I was in the second and third category.

I hold no distain for the Huskers except did not care for the Bill Callahan years.

But you have to admit, Callahan gave us a lot to talk about. The Slasher was a knucklehead.

I too miss the Big 8 and the rivalry with NU but it's not relevant in today's college football world. Sooooo, NU, unless you are on our schedule, you will not see me responding to any of your posts.

I enjoy making conglomerations from different sauces. Also starting out with a can of tomato juice, spicing it up to the point that its my version of bloody mary mix which I drink without booze (usually)

ia, why don't you try googling a Billy Sims BBQ joint and either call them or e-mail. I'm going out on a limb here and say no grocery stores in Tulsa carries it anymore. 90% of new products fail in the first year in grocery stores or at least that was true when I was a manufacture rep.

You may want to google Head Country's website, because I'm pretty sure he packaged it. I'm not positive, but there are very few packers with the facilities all ready in place. I know Danny Head packed for tons of gift shops, etc.

Life has offered a needed service cottage industry in NE IA, the Amish are buying & reselling "bulk groceries" near where I live. Once every few months we stock up on cheap "scratch & dent" or discontinued staples. The single jar of Selmon Bros BBQ sauce is just an example of weird stuff we run across.
