From CBS article if true then Fox should be removed NOW.

New Kentucky coach Mark Pope hired Mark Fox as his associate head coach. Fox, the former Nevada, California and Georgia coach, spent last season working as the director of student-athlete relations and NIL partnerships at Georgetown. Fox might not have the GM tag next to his name at Kentucky, but make no mistake, he's expected to help Pope with more than just pick-and-roll defensive coverages.

Haha I thought Fox was the defensive coordinator so I’ve been begging for him to get fired. So two people on that staff need fired, Fox and whoever the defensive coordinator are.

This. "GM" is just a trendy term that's getting thrown around a lot now.
Mark Fox is the guy who is essentially our "GM". And he needs to be replaced yesterday, preferably by someone :

1) with NBA ties
2) that this younger generation of players actually respect

I wouldn't let GD Barnhart/JMI hire one.
Barney would probably hire a woman GM….because diversity and chit. He would think that would be so innovative and "cutting edge".
Competency? Not important. The boosters should make the hire…..NOW.

I don't get why it would matter if it was a woman. The GM isn't going to be playing.

They’d just end up being someone “Pope is comfortable with,” AKA one of his friends.

No wonder Mitch hired him, he’s just as nepotistic as he is.

I’m not sure Fox is the guy to do it. Coaches need to coach.

I’d find somebody from the NBA front office and/or agent world.

Probably need a couple people.

GM can’t fix Pope deciding we need to avoid “bidding war”s.

GM can’t remove the horrible, deal-killing, rights-devouring JMI contractual obligations that UK and apparently no other school in the entire industry is saddled with.

GM might have helped with the situations where anonymous sources claimed UK wasn’t ready with a solid number while every other school was. It’s possible. But the simplest interpretation, the one Occam’s Razor suggests, is that the reason UK wasn’t able to quote solid numbers was because of the heinously complicated JMI bullcrap. In which case a GM wouldn’t be able to help there either.

My general sense is that a good GM would be nice to have for other reasons, but would most likely be a bandaid on a mortal wound in terms of all the serious recruiting problems Jack Pilgrim has reported on recently.

I’m not against hiring a GM.

But I am against giving our ****ed up athletics department an opportunity to announce they’ve hired a GM and pretend that fixes everything. Because that’s exactly the sort of play I’ve come to expect from our ****ed up athletics department.

First a GM is only going to cover whatever is going on. We need a full investigation and Barnhart / Capiluto removed, then investigated, as well as anyone else involved, then clear them out, then go that direction. We might have losiville level corruption going on here.

Something is most definitely off with recruiting and we are not getting ANYONE. Example how do we lose Crowe to Missouri

A GM is pointless as long as long as Mitch and JMI is around. I agree that we do but with Mitch, it will be a charade.
