If Braden Smith goes portaling it should happen early this week. Painter is meeting with everyone yesterday and today.
UK needs “superstars” and “studs”, or the “Booms” are just a consolation prize for a possible S16.

We didn’t think Oweh was either when he signed. I trust Pope to get what he needs. Not gonna be many “superstars” in the portal. We have to trust in Pope that he gets the right players that can become studs in his system.
The top fans for ANY respective sport didn’t get what they want from being impatient either.
Last thing we want is for him to feel pressure from the fanbase and force things for less than intended outcomes. Let’s let Mark Pope cook!

I like Oweh but no way he is a superstar.
He wasn’t last season but he was second team All-SEC. He might be next year. Preseason AA perhaps? We will see. Pope promised superstars. I’m not assuming that means day one superstars. He intends to prioritize roster continuity and if you look at the guys we’ve been after this portal cycle it’s mostly guys with two years or more of eligibility remaining. People need to be aware of this coz I think people aren’t considering the whole picture here

That’s the vibe I’m getting. As you start to look at all the targets, I think you see the 2026-27 year is where Pope is trying to have the best roster in the country with a significant amount of talent and roster consistency. Just reading the tea leaves.

I trust the staff to build a good roster and am fine with not rushing to fill spots based on star rankings. I would rather fill spots based on need and fit.
I just hope we hurry up and sign more guys so fans will have something new to complain about.

There are definitely "superstars" in the portal. These "superstars" could help any team get to the destination desired. If there weren't "superstars" in the portal, then we are absolutely SCREWED for next year!
Getting kids that have more than one year of eligibility is only beneficial to us if they stay more than one year. If they just put their name back in the portal after playing here for one year, then that isn't the best strategy. The jury is still out on this at the moment, as Oweh and Garrison haven't decided yet.
