We are a completely different team if just Lowe comes back. We don't have a true PG right now and it's basically pushing everyone up a spot, which makes us very slow. With Lowe we match up much better given he can beat about anybody into the lane. Teams can play us 25ft right now, but with Lowe that becomes much more of a challenge. Second, if Jayden and Mo come back we solve a lot, if not all our rebounding issues. Also, teams will have to pack it much tighter to keep Lowe and the bigs from playing drive and dunk. This should open up our pure shooters to shoot without someone in their shorts, like they are having to do now. If the get an open look it's so frantic they rush. Net Net, we CAN be a much better team but need to get healthy to get there. Whether they come back healthy is the key to us becoming the team we can be.

Not sure what everyone has seen with Lowe that makes them think it will turn this early season around.
Lowe can at least break down the D with his dribble, create double teams and open up parameter shots. That's more than we have now, right?

If lowe comes back, hes just a short timer. We saw it with butler. No excuse to spend all this money on a 15 man roster and not have a backup pg.

But he also can't shoot or defend which are 2 of our biggest problems right now.
True, but he can force the action and distribute the ball which has also been lacking. That alone will open things up and get him to the line where he shoots at a high clip. I think his addition (if he stays healthy) will improve the flow of the game as a whole. 8 assists to 9 TO's as well as shot selection were our biggest problems last night.

What are you basing this off of? It's so easy to make a very negative, broad statement like this when the kid has basically played in 2 games and performed well in both. He may not be able to shoot but his value isn't shooting, it's getting to the lane and finding shooters. Good Lord open your eyes up a bit.

I'm basing it off of watching him play 2 seasons at Pitt. Did you actually watch any of his games?

So we are going to be prepared with Lowe?

The team is going to be in condition with Lowe?

The team is going to play defense with Lowe?

The team is going to rebound with Lowe?

Why didn’t his team last year do all of those things?

It is amazing to me that year 1 was a fire drill in putting together a roster and Pope had better depth at PG than year 2.

28% from 3, turnover prone, poor defender, called black hole on offense by Pitt fans. Might want to watch him play.
I have watched him play and he does exactly what we need THIS year. He was good enough to get All ACC

4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2 steals to 3 turnovers. Averaged 16.8 and shot 88% from the FT line. What the hell are you talking about? You know absolutely zero about basketball if you call that a mediocre point guard especially when those are Sophomore stats.

I don’t think Lowe will be back. I also think this team will continue to struggle until the coach kicks whoever is dragging them down off the team. Addition by subtraction. Just a feeling but I’m sticking with my gut on this one.

It is hard to argue against this, although it may be difficult to find an effective PG willing to come in as a back-up. It still seems essential to have one. Perhaps recruiting one from a mid-major is an answer ... ??

Could've went g league or overseas but pope showed zero interest in g league. Kelsey outworked him on that angle for sure.

Much as i hate it, Kelsey outworked him. He took Pope's concepts and are implementing them much better.

Delusion, coping, denial. This team is gonna get smacked around for the next 4 months, enjoy.
You are correct. These boys are “we got our money now time to fake injuries and enjoy the Lexington night life”. This team may be worse than Cals losing season team. Not sniffing the tournament. Sit back and suffer. Since 2015 we have become a pink blood and irrelevant.

You can rationalize the team all the way to an NCCAA championship. Unfortunately, the game is still played in the real world where we suck.

There are obviously issues but this team is very capable of being good. That said I am definitely not predicting good things from them after being at the game and seeing the complete and utter lack of effort, drive or emotion.

This thread didn’t age well for those of you who didn’t believe in JLowe’s ability to change the game.
