Very happy for Noel! He was AWESOME during his time in Lex (on and off the court)!! Very glad to see his rigorous rehab has paid off.

I just missed out on him in fantasy. I was shocked how early he got picked in my league.

Two thoughts come to mind: (1) I'm obviously very happy for NN, and (2) I hope AP finds inspiration in NN's post-injury success and it helps him to continue to push himself hard during his own rehab.

Per ESPN, against the Hawks last night, "Noel became the first NBA rookie to have 11 points, 17 rebounds and five steals in a game since Shaquille O'Neal did it in 1993."

It's interesting watching Nerlens now. I went to the Sixers-Pelicans game in January when he really seemed to jump-start his season (Davis was hurt, which helped a lot.) Since then he has been playing great, with lots of confidence. The best thing that happened for him was the trade of Michael Carter-Williams; although they are childhood friends, MCW was an unbelievable ball hog and Nerlens was never getting the touches he needed to get. Isaiah Caanan is really playing well too, BTW.

It's not clear whether the Sixers are showcasing Nerlens now because they see him as a cornerstone of their team for the future or if they plan to trade him and want to raise his trade value. It may depend on where they end up in the lottery. He is very, very popular in Philly though.

I would have loved to have seen him team up with Anthony Davis in New Orleans.

That would have been a nasty front line!!

Agree about the point guard situation. The Sixers have been very poor this season in terms of having a guard who can distribute to the big man. Earlier in the season they relied a lot on Tony Wroten and he was maybe worse the MCW in terms of getting others involved.

As far as Nerlens' long-term future, I certainly hope the Sixers plan on keeping him for the long term and IMO they should, but you never know with this organization. I think if they traded Noel for future draft picks, the remaining fans of the team might give up on this organization for good. But I do think it comes down to how they see him playing with Embiid in the future.
