whatever it makes me. Just wonder how long it'll take before people stop with the "Where were you?" remarks like they did Pearl Harbor eventually. Next year?
I was wondering the same thing about Pearl Harbor. I imagine it was about the next day, because nobody really felt the need to make a national tragedy all about themselves.

I hated the way we handled it. Baseball should have gone on, Nascar should have raced that weekend, the buildings should have been built back to look just like they did. The Patriot Act had to have been written prior to the attack. Never miss a chance for a power grab.

We allowed them to win by cowering in fear. Hell, Dow Chemical killed more people in one night in Bhopal India.

Porsche has sure cashed in. I could understand building it for a year or two, three tops. I guess they're just going to build them from now on! That's so dumb.

Last night, I walked past countless families still torn apart by this and FDNY1 after a day of work and some drinks in lower Manhattan. I guess if this happened in Louisville, Lexington or Cincinnati it would hit more home to you folks.

All I can say is, anyone making fun or light of the events of 9/11 can SMD.

That is all.

Apples and oranges.

The bombing of a military installation 4000 miles off the coast of California as opposed to commandeered passenger planes filled with innocents used as weapons to intentionally kill the most civililians and property in the U.S.' most economically important city is a piss poor comparison.

Trying to look smarmy and cute on this topic actually makes one look quite stupid.

I know it's the Paddock, but Jesus- be human.

****, I was over in Kuala Lumpur in 2003 which was a few months after the Bali bombings in Indonesia. I know it was by choice to be in a Muslim country such as Malaysia, but it is down right scary to have guards out with mirror sticks looking under your car for bombs everywhere you go because of terrorism. Christ sakes, this was Muslims having to monitor other Muslims. That's how fanatical of a religion they are.

One bit that is always stands out. Politics and conspiracy theories often overshadow the most important piece to this tragedy. The innocent victims.

My parents still talk about where they were when Kennedy was shot. The problem is, boomers weren't around during pearl harbor.

Trying to compare the memories people have after Pearl Harbor and 9/11 is absurd. The difference is everyone lived 9/11 as it happened. We all watched live as people died when those planes hit the towers and jumped to their deathh. We watched as first responders went into buildings that later collapsed, and we all remember the aftermath of countless people walking around in a dust cloud trying to find a family member, co-worker, or where to go and how to even get there.

I would assume that type of experience leaves a different impression on the conscious compared to the shared experience of 7 December 41.

Wasn't trying to look smarmy and/or cute with that particular post, at all. Of course those directly affected by a tragedy are going to feel its effects for years to come, just as the ones who were at Pearl Harbor and their families did. I don't really have another even in recent U.S. History to compare 9/11 to other than Pearl Harbor, fortunately. It's more about people's reaction to events rather than the event itself. No offense intended, of course.

(Except to maybe the OP for making the 9/11 thread at 10:00 at night)

Decades from now, I imagine myself sitting in my great grandson's elementary classroom talking about the most formative moment of the early 21st century.

"Where were you when it happened, Mr Jamo0001? What went through your mind when you saw it happen live on television? Were you shocked? Angry? Happy in some sort of twisted way?"

"Well, young man, I never actually saw it. I had the TV on the entire time, but I happened to turn around to grab some nachos right as her titty popped out."

I was watching with a group of folks (men and women and a few kids) from church. Those five seconds afterwards were the most tense I've ever felt in a 'church' setting. All the men glancing at one another waiting for someone to say something. Unsurprisingly, it was a woman who said something first. High fives ensued once they all retired off to the kitchen.

How anyone could make light of the attack on America by these thugs actually says a lot about the USA in 2015. If my fathers generation was the greatest, this one must be the weakest.
