For selfish reasons, I would prefer MCB or Liberty cuz I'll be closest to either of them at the time and could make it. Doubt I would be able to get to Gator Bowl although I realize it would be the better bowl for our program to be in. I'll be happy no matter with any of those bowl games for the Cats this year. Definitely appears we are on the rise right now, pretty exciting times.

If UK gets the Gator Bowl and UofL gets the Citrus Bowl it will be the first time both teams get a Florida Bowl in the same year. Both bowls are on the same day at the same time Citrus on ABC and Gator on ESPN.

Taxslayer Gator Bowl might be Kentucky vs. Georgia Tech
Citrus Bowl Louisville vs. LSU...Florida played in the Citrus Bowl last year against Michigan and now some have the Gators going to the Outback Bowl.

I have no sources at all, but I almost guarantee we will not be in the Belk. Mitch will not let them put us in a bowl that is going on at the same time as our basketball team. If he does he fails as an AD.
Go away...

You know it's the truth. You don't sacrifice one sport (your best one at that) for another one. I don't see any AD doing that and that's why I think Mitch will do the right thing and that may end up being a big reason we might end up at the TaxSlayer Bowl. That and buying up a ton of tickets. You don't force the fans to choose between the two.

One brings in a boatload of money, is on national TV, and is the culmination of a successful season for the bread and butter of our athletics department; the other is a few hundred UK fans in Oxford, MS for a conference cupcake. You're right, he'd be a failure of an AD if that was our best bowl invite and he turned it down over a road conference basketball game. DVR the damn basketball game......dear Lord what is wrong with our fanbase. Hmmmmm...bowl game or watch UK play Ole Miss. You can't be serious.

Unfortunately I believe that person is along with many others. It is yet another of the many obstacles this football program has to over come..there truly is an attitude that basketball comes first, period. Its crazy

If you are picking watching an away basketball game over going to a bowl game, you aren't going to attend the bowl game regardless. You would just find another reason to not attend the bowl even if it didn't conflict with your precious basketball game. Go away...

Also, Mitch doesn't pick the bowl game, they pick us. You can damn well bet if UK only gets "picked" by a bowl game that conflicts with a basketball game he will act totally irresponsible and gladly accept it. Sheer Matt Jones ignorance on full display here folks.

I'd prefer a Friday or Sat. bowl for selfish reasons. Easier to take off work one day rather than two.

I heard from a couple guys pretty close to the athletic department (message boards/twitter) that it's down to three options. Belk, TaxSlayer, MC...I'm hoping for the TaxSlayer myself. I want nothing to do with the state of North Carolina for many reasons.

The bowls in this pool—the Outback Bowl, TaxSlayer Bowl, Music City Bowl, Texas Bowl, Belk Bowl and Liberty—are filled by the SEC in conjuncture with the individual bowls and schools.

All I'm saying is according to that above, the SEC, bowls, and schools all work together in selecting where the school goes. Mitch represents the school and he cares about all sports. That is why I've maintained that I believe the basketball game and the football game being on the same day might eliminate a bowl from consideration. You know Mitch will go into these talks using that to help with our bowl selection. Who's to say that isn't the reason the Belk Bowl talk has died down some and the TaxSlayer has picked up?

You football first people take it as a slight when I said I don't want to sacrifice one sport for the other. That is because I enjoy them equally and want to watch them both live and some of us don't have DVRs. I might even try to go to the bowl if I can, but I'm not missing the basketball game to do it. I'm sure there are plenty of other fans that feel the same way. That is why I said Mitch would have failed in considering this and that is also why I don't think he did and we will get a better bowl because of it.

Football and basketball have to coexist here unlike most SEC schools. That is why I think that will be one of the deciding factors in our bowl destination. We are the flagship of the conference in basketball and I think that is still worth something to the SEC.
