I haven’t listened to Jason isbell much. I’ve heard good things but I guess I’ll start with an older album. :joy:
And I’m a Nathaniel Rateliff fan for sure. He’s solo albums are definitely slower and more acoustic than his work with Nathaniel Rateliff and the night sweats. All great to me though. His new album is slow for sure, so if someone isn’t into that, they probably won’t like it much. But it’s definitely a good listen to me as well.

Yeah, he should write good ol' conservative songs like this one.
The album doesn't come out until May 15. Right now there is only the lead single ("Be Afraid") available and I think it is fantastic. I don't see a second single.
BTW, a couple of weeks ago I saw Isbell with Hayes Carll opening, and the show was as good as ever.
The 400 Unit guitarist Sadler Vaden is a really good artist in his own right and his second album is coming out in a couple of weeks.

If you compare everything to Southeastern you'll be disappointed.

I’m happy for Isbell that he is sober, but his songwriting has gone to **** since he got off the sauce. His edge was the angst and hatred that his alcohol experiences gave him.
Now he is happy and rich and doesn’t have anything interesting to write about.

See, to me it's just as wild how they don't. I'm a huge Depeche Mode fan and have been since HS (1980s). The save the world, damn the man rhetoric they were spewing in the 80's that evolved into the anti-political awesomeness that was the 90's thru the 2000s has now become their bread and butter for the woke crowd again. Their last album sucked donkey dick b/c it was 90% political and Dave Gahan even admitted that his daughter's US/UK political triggering is what prompted the basis for it. I mean, there's a song on there called "Where's the Revolution" and the video is shot in B&W with a red jacket as the only color shown, lol.
And what really sucks is that it's some of the best synth they've done in years... all ruined by political emoting. B/c it's who they are...
Also, the fact that Dave's peak heroin use coincided with their greatest run of albums, only to return to mediocre after his rehab, is not lost on me.
