I would like to see him tell the fans that for the first 5 minutes of each half that NO ONE sits and to cheer continuously even if it is thru a time out...What do you think?...I think this would be something awesome to start ...

I would hope it would help us get out of the gates a little quicker each half...I think you could probably get the upper arena folks to be all in for it, but I don't know about the lower folks...I think it would be awesome and I don't understand why any fan in Rupp would be against it...

Dream on. You're more likely to grow palm trees in Antarctica than to get a significant segment of our best seatholders to remain standing for the first five minutes of every half.

I don't know...I think if Cal made a big deal out of it he might be able to pull it off...Like I said , I think the upper arena folks would be all in , but the lower arena ones would be a much tougher sell...Why do you think this would be the case...It sure would be worth a try in my book and be a great new tradition like the ones at Duke and Kansas...

If you're talking about 5 minutes of game time, that is about 15 minutes of real time...never going to happen. I think asking them to stand and cheer until we score or give up points, whichever happens last, is more likely. If we score first, fans remain standing and cheering until the opponant scores and if the opponant scores first, fans remain standing until we score.

The standing thing from a certain point mentioned above, cal asked for that at the UL game last year as well, but it didn't happen.

Why do we think that having fans stand when there's nothing exciting happening is a good idea? Let the fans react to what's happening on the court. If the game gets exciting, the fans will stand and cheer. If they're in a TV time out then let the fans sit.

That idea makes no sense to me! It's about like that stupid stadium wave that took hold 20 years back. It makes a spectacle of the fans. The entertainment should be on the court/field/pitch, not in the stands.

I say forget gimmicky stuff like that. I'd just rather the people stand and cheer after we score and get back on D. There is a time for cheering that maximizes a home-court advantage, and there are times where it would just wear the fans out.

Yes I am talking the first 5 minutes of the game including timeouts ...What an awesome atmosphere that could become if the fans would play along...I REALLY don't understand what a big deal this would be for the #1 BASKETBALL PROGRAM IN THE COUNTRY TO DO!!.

REALLY!!!...Did it ever cross your mind that if the fans are ALL on their feet and cheering for that length of time that the players would feed off that and "SOMETHING EXCITING" would happen ...Why do you think the players are always gesturing for the fans to get up on our feet and cheer...How about we do it without being asked!!!!!!!!!!!!!...IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE
...I hate going to a game and someone is yelling "hey sit down"...If you want to sit down stay at home and watch it on TV...

So...Fans standing and cheering to boost and lift up the team is "gimmicky"...
