New uniforms?

When McCollum was hired, there was some talk that we might get new basketball uniforms, as it makes sense to have a new look for a new era. I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything on this front.

Feel free to use this thread to share your uniform ideas, and/or to belittle anyone who thinks uniforms matter.

It may have changed but awhile back on an episode of Two Guys Chris Williams said he was shocked that to get new uniforms or even an alternate is somewhere around a two year process. I assume it's because of how many schools use Nike plus you got to think about all other divisions of college football and high school using Nike as well.

I think it was a couple years into the Fran era before we got new ones as well.

If it is Oregon, they would get them in two weeks.

I imagine this is true if you are getting a new custom design that is unique to your team.

If you utilize an existing design (modified to your team’s colors), I bet it can happen faster.

I will say that trying too hard to be “unique” is what gets a lot of teams in trouble.

How? We have nike stuff for high school and we can get custom stuff whenever we want. I know they have Iowa's exact colors but that seems crazy for a company that big.

I'm not saying this is wrong, because I just don't know. But it seems like college teams switch uniforms as quickly as you can switch streaming services.

Get rid of the yellow unis. Old Gold is the official school color along with black.
Traditionally, yes. I have always heard the same.

But the university’s official branding guide now just lists the colors as “black” and “gold,” with the official shade being something that many would likely call “yellow.”

I agree with the "Hawkeyes" logo, but the "Hawks" script would work really well in my opinion.
The Hawks logo works better for sure, but script font needs to be very high contrast to be readable from distance or on a screen. That's why it works on the gold uniforms. The black on black just isn't visible enough to be easy to read and the yellow outline isn't enough to make it stand out.

Again, it is a really cool shirt and I think it would sell well if it was made (I'd get one if I had the chance), but uniforms have different standards than shirts do. Uniforms are as much advertising as anything else so they should send the message of who you are immediately without effort. That's why I've always liked the uniforms that just had the Tigerhawk on the front. It's different, because there aren't many other teams who use their "brand" symbol on their jerseys, but it is easy to identify. By the way, it's these characteristics that are why the Tigerhawk works so well for the University. You aren't going to confuse it with anything else. Unless some other University tries to steal it ;)

Definitely wouldn't be opposed to a solid gold script rather than an outline. I've seen a handful of people ask for the Hawks logo back in some capacity, I'm growing more attached to it the more I look at it, myself. I think I'd rather see anything, whether it be a tigerhawk or script, as opposed to the block IOWA font on two jerseys.

Solid gold would work if the spacing were right. Weren't the road uniforms in the 80's with the BJ Armstrong teams gold script?

Script wins every time in my book. Slap the flying logo on and I'll go buy it right now. I'm a sucker for those 2 things.
