I have it on good authority that FloWrestling's annual Who's Number One event will be held Saturday, October 11th at Xtream Arena in Coralville.

This marks the second time in six years that the high-profile prep showcase will be staged in Hawkeye country.

Back in 2019, CHA hosted the event - including two Iowa commits (Jesse Ybarra and Patrick Kennedy), another future transfer (Victor Voinovich), and a host of other huge names that have frequented the NCAA scene in recent years.

Needless to say, this represents an awesome opportunity for Iowa fans to get eyes on some of the future superstars of the sport - many of whom will ideally don a Hawkeye singlet in the years to come.

It sounds like the full card (boys and girls) should be announced in the near future - and I'm already making plans to ensure that I'll be there to cover the event live when it goes down in mid-October.

Here's a link to every match/result in WNO history - starting all the way back in 2013:

Was just thinking going to be awkward when Bo and Melvin take the mat....
It will be ugly, not awkward. They are going to find out you don’t **** with the biggest most passionate fan base in their sport. Last time he was in the arena, we treated him like royalty. Fans lined up around the block to meet him and buy his merchandise. He knew our RTC was nothing compared to PSU and even Oky st. He knew the Brands and Iowas athletic department were straight arrows, not rule breaking scumbags who do anything a crooked recruit wants to get him and win. He was supposed to be the one to rebuild us to the top with college wrestling and RTC, not with his individual abilities, but his influence in the wrestling world. Not the high character family they portray themselves as.

Mocco vs Ross has to be one of the matches, right?
At this rate, we may not see Mocco/Ross until an Iowa/Okie State dual a few years down the road...

They were SO close to hitting on multiple occasions this past summer, but it never materialized.

I agree with this. Just thinking it would be beneficial for attendance if there were at least 1 men's Hawkeye commit on the card. Do they still do a 4 man weight? Ross, Merrill, Mocco and Betchold.
I believe they said on FRL that Ross/Merrill is the matchup - with Ross traveling across the state after playing football the night before.

Jordan Raney vs Bo Bassett on the card. Feels like a gut punch for this Hawk fan but should bring in the out of state crowd to Iowa City.
If they were both committed to us, which was very realistic, I think that would be a first for us to have two recruits against each other in wno. Crowd would have been nuts, now we have to decide which back stabber to cheer against more. Probably Bassett since he actually committed, sold us merchandise, then dumped us.

This would be great news for the team. Im not sure we can ever say he is committed to the Hawks but would be nice to have his talent if even for a year or two and thinking if we get Miller in the room, he wont leave with Angelo to work with.
