I loved the big play. Been so close with our committe of running backs and love that he took it to the house. You could see the jets turn on. He wasn't going to be denied.

Here people go with the I told you so threads.. Smh

To be fair there are a number of posters that only show up on game day just waiting for us to falter just to say "I TOLD YOU SO!" I don't think it's my imagination.

great game by Newby .....

interested if people think his 4th quarter may have been, in part, a product of continually feeding one back rather than 3-4 carries sub, 2-3 carries for another back etc, etc

I know the constant rotation of backs is the current trend but I think there is something to said for letting one guy carry the load and letting him heat up

Ok, ill be that guy. How about something like, "uh, it was Illinois. They suck and we struggled, etc, bla, bla, bla." Something like that?

Newby hasn't been getting the 4th quarter. It's different than the first 5 minutes.

The nice thing about the backs we have is they all have a different skill set. It let's the coaches find out who has the hot hand and ride it as long as they can.

Newby seemed to have some extra gas in the tank in the end. He starts the game, Ziggy and Wilbon were in the middle today and he comes on late and continues the beat. By that time the D is on their heels. How long were they on the field today for crying out loud?

When I look at Newby I see a complete back. He can do everything. He maybe doesn't have the wiggle of Wilbon or the power of Ozigbo but he can cut, show power, find the hole and catch the ball. Get a D worn down and bring in a guy with those tools and a decent line push and he will do some damage.

No other back has his burst, outside of Tre. He's got hands, blocking, and getting better at vision. Love the dude!

THERE IS NO DOUBT ALL THE BACKS ARE BETTER THIS YEAR. HUGE gains for Newby; and he really manned up - decisive; totally saw the field, thinking his adrenaline was on OT. GBR

so I've heard.

Let's be honest...the guy has been soft his entire career, and goes down with very little contact. I give him props for his performance today, because he played with some grit and determination, but his performances for the first 3 1/2 years of his career have been less than inspiring.

I'll admit i have been in the camp that hasn't appreciated Newby as a RB. But I'll happily give him props for a huge game today. We needed it.

My issue with him last season was his vision at the LOS, it was pretty poor. This season he's seemed to improve that by quite a bit so I like the kid much better. To be honest I don't think we're hurting for solid backs but we are hurting for blocks.
