Indeed! Congrats to Nia. I am sure brother Amir is very psyched, as well as all of her family.

For those of you who follow women's hoops, check out the list of player's Nia was drafted ahead of in the first round. Just wow; awesome accomplishment for her!

Outstanding. Congrats Nia, and best of luck in the WNBA.
Wow, #5 overall. Congratulations Nia! I finally have a WNBA team to cheer for, and I'll be sure to flip to the game whenever the San Antonio Stars are on. I hope she's their Tim Duncan and has a stellar pro career.

Aside from Otto Graham (#4 overall), have we ever had as high of a draft pick in NU history?

I should know this exactly, but Chris Hinton was drafted, I think, 3rd or 4th in the early '80's.

Fourth pick in first round of 83 draft, then traded for some guy named John Elway. Hinton went to seven Pro Bowls.

Those ladies who graduated played an awful lot of basketball for Northwestern. If I am not mistaken, we were the only team in the country who had four players with at least 1000 career points. No one else was even close.

Another phenomenal recruiting class coming in. You know how we get excited in the men's game when we land one top 100 recruit? ALL of our three 2017 recruits in WBB are top 100! Combined with two top 100 recruits from last year (Wolf and Scheid), we will be just fine long-term, though obviously next year will be a rebuilding year.

Coach Joe is a much better recruiter than Carmody was on the men's side. But Joe's conference record is as unsatisfactory as Bill's was and I wonder what happens if we have a bad year.

I think he gets at least one more year with all the young players, especially he has a relatively recent appearance in the NCAAs. And he might retire once he gets to 700 wins at any rate.

Joe is a great ambassador for the school and a throwback to the old era of WBB when the players and coaches weren't on ESPN. Since Jim hired Joe, it seems unlikely that Jim would let him go unless we suffered a big embarrassment of some kind.

We don't have room to complain after June and Beth, do we? But I think everybody expected a bit more, especially with all of the talent that WBB has brought in.

I think that Joe's tenure here will end with retirement rather than being fired. To the best of my knowledge, he runs a clean program even when they struggle on the court.

I worry about his health when he really gets involved on the sideline.

I think that the coaches of women's sports usually have longer leashes.
