Very classy take on the Pete/Ryan transfers.

Also, it doesn't sound like Roper is ready to play tonight........

Great interview. You don’t hear anything this in-depth ever. Starts at about 5 minutes and covers almost the entire show. More than a half-hour.

Talks about the trio coming back: “I’ll sit down and talk about what’s best for them as individuals at the end of the season. But let’s not think about that now. Those same decisions will be available in the spring.”

On Iowa: he giggled about Iowa ‘scoring about 120 on us.’

Interview conducted yesterday, Roper still questionable. “I want to be smart with him, so when he comes back I want him to be ready for the rest of the season.”

He’s really, really excited about the student crowds. (35:00). Expresses no frustration about playing off-campus following the NCAA tournament. We desperately needed those upgrades.

36 minutes — it’s easy to get fired up when people are saying bad things. But can you stay hungry when things are going well?

We have to fight every night, continue to defend. Our margin of error is not that big.

Wow, really great interview, thanks for posting!

I wish we got long, open interviews like this in other revenue sports…

As a perpetual skeptic that we can have nice things I fear the hype.

Right now? Made the necessary changes (though perhaps at gunpoint). He's coaching for his life. Will it last? Idk. But of they lose every remaining game, it's better than the 11 week turd that Fitz left at midfield

How about a humbled and slightly desperate Chris Collins is a better coach than a complacent and slightly out of touch Pat Fitzgerald?
How about just “Chris Collins is having a much better year this year than Pat Fitzgerald” and leave it at that for now. I have enough basketball anxiety and expectations to try to keep in check entering this February stretch without having to start the CCC vs Fitz convo. If Collins has a great year and two years from now we’re having to argue about which of our two great coaches is better, that would be awesome, not least of which because it would imply great things for Fitz.

I suspect that CCC would coach football better than Fitz could coach basketball, but that Fitz would be an excellent softball coach while CCC would be just adequate at soccer, even though he probably played AYSO.

I’d say we should test this except the existing coaches of all the non revenue programs you mentioned are pretty great, so… maybe let one of them try baseball?

I don't really know what your intention behind this series of comments was, but it made me laugh to myself so thank you.

Let me try. I am so scarred.

I am damn proud of this team and the coaches. They have an identity, and it's a positive one. Relentless defense, calm on offense, and make free throws. That wins a lot of games. I still fear the losing streaks, but this team seems less prone to it.

Reminds me of some of our better football teams.
