stories like this make me wonder who has been running the ship! Its good if Baker has a new attitude but it's bad to think the coaching staff has tolerated this in the recent past!

This could definitely be a factor this year, nice read. Good for him.

I'm really excited about our WR corp. But then how about our RBs? We just had a very good TE drop out because of too much competition. What if our two new OTs come on strong as the season progresses?

Our 5.9 QB could have a lot of weapons to help him live up to his original hype.

He needs to take the same approach that Barker took IMO. I hope that he has. That combo could be pretty special if that can carry their maturity to game action.

You have to understand some kids mature slower than others. Do you have kids?

Baker played because there was no one behind him. This team is not loaded at many positions. Out of choices the coaches play a Baker.

He rolled over, tucked his tail, too many times already to change his spots. When the going gets tough he'll find a reason to quit.

Hopefully, our roster is getting strong enough we'll soon be able to stop putting his type player on the field or in the locker room.

It's been said that a team takes on the personality of the head coach. I think what we might have here is a position group starting to take on the personality of the position coach. Thomas seems to be having a strong positive influence on this group.

I believe that's 100% the case. This group of receivers steam rolled our last receivers coach. Dawson is going to be a bit different to deal with. It's amazing how anonymous our receivers coach was last year. I don't even remember his name right now. The WRs during games all hung out with Morrow not their position coach on the sideline. I suspect that will change with Dawson.

actually, these are all very young guys and all of them probably need to mature and they will in time.

I know they do and really I am not putting the blame on the kid, it's the coaches I don't understand allowing some things! Young people will often test those in authority, if it's not allowed not much of it will happen!

You're even having trouble remembering our current receiver coach as well. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Coach Thomas and Coach Gran won't put up with foolishness like Coach Mainord and Dawson did. MOF, the first time Baker was with Coach Gran he called him brah - and Gran read him the riot act.

Lol. I think that more comes from so many threads about Dawson. It just slips in there when I type it. By all accounts Mainord was a good coach he just didn't have the big personality that is needed to relate to the current group of receivers.

As long as he stops throwing the ball up in the air and acting like every catch he makes is the greatest ever, I'll be fine. I don't think he ever just got up and handed the ball back to the ref after a catch.

I love him and Juice. You have to be confident to play the position. But more times than not, both of them let their emotions and swagger get in their way.

Well, his position coach and the offensive coordinator were both let go this past offseason, so I don't think *this* staff has tolerated any of his antics.
rack.

Stoops obviously saw more than enough from his OC to make such a quick hook. I'm 100% certain that 90% of our problems last year stemmed from the offensive side of the ball. That is now handled. [cheers]

Agree... Coach Gran seems like a guy who will NOT put up with BS from players. Either get it done and the right way ...or sit.

I think Coach Stoops has a staff very close to the one he envisioned when he first came here. If this staff holds together I think that may be nearly as good as the recruits that have sign with us the last few seasons. I'm positive about our coaches this year last year not so much.

I agree. Stoops now seems hes capable of putting his full trust into his staff. That is an enormous asset to the team as a whole, because now Stoops doesn't have to micromanage certain staff members and he can put his undivided attention into steadying the ship.

I think Gran's "no nonsense" approach and Lamar Thomas' ability to make these receivers compete for snaps and holding them accountable day in and day out will carry this group far. Lord knows they're talented enough!

Our 5.9 QB. Were these your same remarks when Newton was here? Jesus man everything to you is a point system rating even when someone has been in the program 3 years. What about our WR's last season. Bet you were saying the same last season. And talking about how our 5.7-5.8 QB has a bunch 5.7 wr's to pass to and 5.8's and 5'9's to hand it off too while he has a 5.9 TE to pass it to. We're bout turn some heads and win some games folks! "jauk before the 2015 season kicked off"

But anyways. Our WR corp had tons of praise last season. And what ended up happening? I'm tired of preseason hype and praise with no results. Words about posters here being excited about our WR's preseason is just old to me talk is more than cheap I ain't giving any praise to baker or any of these other receivers besides Walker and Johnson going into the season because they've done nothing to earn praise.

One of our posters said he took a tour of the facility and Gran saw a guy with his shirt untucked. Gran told him to tuck it in and present himself with class. Dude said yes sir... I get the feeling gran got it in their heads quick that things have changed.
