I think all Baylor fans are really watching this hire and expecting it to be successful. He is a good coach and these are good people.

I was extremely critical of the BB hire and expressed my feelings when he was hired. Very happy this time around.

Tulsa's search for a new head football coach took 10 days, ending with the hiring of Baylor OC Philip Montgomery. InsideTulsaSports.com was the only media outlet providing continuous updates of the process, including who was targeted, who was interviewed, when those meetings took place, and more. Over 200 updates were posted in Hurricane Alley alone.

Tulsa finally got to meet Montgomery on Tuesday (Dec. 9), offered him the job on Wednesday, and hired him on Thursday. Below is a detailed look at the search, which is basically a highly condensed summary of our updates during the 10-day process.

We are getting a man as good as BB that is hopefully a better recruiter and staff builder.
Lots we don't know but this doesn't feel like JP or BB. Should be fun!

Ash, the biggest difference will be that Montgomery probably is looking at the TU job as a 4 yr step towards a destination job which will keep him driven and hungry. TUs issue has always been the coach who wants to stay and isn't driven to see how high he can go. The one's who want to move onward and upward are fine. They don't get complacent. If TU can keep hiring the next big thing then it will be fine as well. It's when we settle for a guy who'll take a home town discount and who wants to retire here, that has always turned into difficulty for us.
