He played for Florida State last year where he batted .400 in 13 games (6-for-15 with 3 RBI) as a true freshman.

<span id="en-NIV-23616" class="sup"></span>"Bring them here to me," John Cohen said. <span id="en-NIV-23617" class="sup"></span>And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. <span id="en-NIV-23618" class="sup"></span>They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. <span id="en-NIV-23619" class="sup"></span>The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

mix in the fact that we probably will lose Bowen and C. Powers after this year and that's 13 slots. Now add the fact that a couple of these guys may not ever see campus, particularly a couple of the jucos. After that, you just have to cut people, but Cohen isn't really that far off.

who played when Cohen was playing. He is well connected with LSU and says that the LSU coaching staff said Cohen coming to State had changed the entire game when it came to recruiting in this part of the conference.

I like the long term outlook for Cohen's bunch, but what's your feeling about '09? I haven't followed baseball that closely lately (maybe I'll start back now.)

b/c they all come to school in the fall of 09.

We'll struggle this year b/c of pitching. We have a lineup that could score some runs though if Adkins and Freeman play like they can. Freeman's health is important.

I take it you have seen him play? He did break the record for the most runs scored in Alabama, so I take it from that stat that the kid knows how to get on base and score, which ultimately is what John Cohen is looking for.

The guy scored 85 runs with 9 HR's and 20 doubles his last year in High School. I guess he got on base by hitting the ball with his glove.

is in 09 are Justin Bussey, who is a middle infielder and Jarrod Parks, who I thought I read is going to be eligible to play next year despite it looking like Tulane wouldn't release him.

obviously. I suspect that we are giving partial scholarships and that we are looking for other funding from outside sources, like MTAG for example, to supplement the rest of the cost. It's a pretty novel idea.

It's not that unusual for college baseball programs to sign 20 players a year, for example South Carolina does this. We may lose a player or two to the draft for once, so that could free some money up.

All Cohen is doing is bringing MSU into the 21st century as far as recruiting is concerned.

but the good thing is that we have several guys competing for middle infield spots, and hopefully one will step up among the group of Russ Sneed, Ryan Powers, Jet Butler, and Jarrod Parks. If nothing else Parks can play defense.

at 3B and 1B this fall. I don't think he is an SEC SS.

He struggles with the bat against legit (SEC,ACC) pitching. He's a nice kid and he is a good glove man, but he isn't going to be Maniscalco (Sic). I am guessing he is being brought in for depth or as a veteran stop gap in between recruiting classes.

Hey I've been wrong before though. Like I said he is a good guy-I hope he rakes unless he's playing the rebels.

has he faced legit ACC/SEC pitching? Looks like in a limited role, he handled it pretty well at Florida State.
