I am very interested in seeing the development this spring of these three linebackers.

I was very excited when we beat Wisconsin out for Nico two years ago and have been waiting for him to break out ever since. Was it ever established what exactly his injury was last year; has he fully recovered for this spring?

I thought Jordan Jones looked good last year as a true freshman. Sure, he made a lot of true freshman mistakes but that is to be expected… I think the skies the limit for Jordan as far as potential goes.

Eli Brown is another one that, despite big accolades coming in, has flown under the radar. A 4-star Army All-American recruit that had an Ohio State offer. I know he was light when he arrived; here's hoping he's gained the necessary weight and kept his speed to be a productive linebacker this year.

IIRC Firios had surgery something like mid-year, shoulder maybe? If so he'd likely miss spring. Pretty sure of surgery, not sure as to what. One thing for sure....if UK wishes to boost the LB play these 3, and others, need to elevate the play of that position. All are key to the '16 season.

We have two transfers in from Nebraska and Minnesota at lb that will both play for us this year and most likely start - staff said the kid from Minny is scary as in Snedgar type of personality. Should be interesting.

Eli was rehabbing a knee. If one more lb'er got hurt they would of burned his redshirt. His knee was 100% about the start of the season so he should be ready to go in the spring and I can't wait for spring weight #s to come out

So he's meaner than a junkyard dog and dirty as hell? If so, I like it very much.

Kash Daniel will figure in the mix somewhere as well. I think he's too good to redshirt.

I'm not as worried about the 2016 LB rotation as I was at the end of last season. At the very least I don't expect a drop-off in performance. Still concerned about the DL however.

Re '16 LBs...of the 8 projected 2-deep, 5 haven't played a down of SEC football. May bode well for the future but the immediate is a concern.

Jerry Claiborne told me once, "Experience is learning from your mistakes."

Our LBs will be gaining experience this season, especially early.

So will our defensive linemen. But I think we have most of the right pieces on the roster now, even if they need some more seasoning.

"Luck-when preparation meets opportunity." My favorite Claiborne quote.

My "concerns" for the 2016 team are less than they had been for the last 5 yrs. From a personnel standpoint we have little excuse to not register a .500 season or better.

DL, OLB, QB, (consistent play from) the WRs, and effort from the RBs all scare me to death...

At least we will have physical lbs in the middle. Now they may get smoked in coverage and may blow some gap responsibility but I'll bet a months wages that they don't allow as much yards after contact as Forrest did... and flannigan seemed perpetually injured or behind in his 2 years.

I am not as concerned this year as some. We have guys that are in there 3rd years ready physically to compete. The dline starters will all be guys with size and strength. The backers will be guys physically ready to compete.

Other than the fact that we are still out recruited by over half the SEC... at least.

Hopefully they can put up more than 11 reps...

Always have been, always will be.

If that is going to be our excuse in perpetuity then we ought to just fold tent or move conferences (which I actually think is a fantastic reason for many different reasons).

Really, change conferences, that's the great defeatist attitude.

Stoops yesterday: "Those guys are really talented players. When you really talk about Jordan and Eli, you’re not going to recruit two better looking WILL linebackers. With that they just need the reps and to continue to grow. Eli in particular needs a little bit more strength and weight, but he’s a very talented guy as well. I’m excited about De’Niro (Laster). He’s a versatile guy. He could play outside or inside. With Josh and Denzil we’ve got to continue to work on our pass rush, as you know. That’s something that those two guys can be difference makers getting after the quarterback, and they’ve got to have a good spring.”
